Quiet corners are magical in Paris
Napias and Lefébure's little book is a revelation for both those who know Paris well and those just discovering it. Everyone goes to the places in traditional guidebooks, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower; Napias moves beyond and behind these monuments in order to explore the out-of-the-way and the peaceful little parks and, as he puts it, "corners," of a major capital city that can sometimes be lost inside its own reputation. Whether one strolls through le Parc Monceau on a Sunday afternoon, or takes to the heights of the Buttes Chaumont, another Paris waits to be uncovered. Less hectic, less overrun with tourists, these 'coins' are havens that most of us would walk by without noticing. Three cemeteries (Prère Lachaise, Montmartre, Montparnasse) are of course fascinating for their historical significance, but what many visitors miss is the tranquility of late afternoons there, especially in spring and fall, when they are not crowded and sitting contemplatively on a bench for twenty minutes pulls you body and soul into what Paris truly is. A magical state of mind as well as a concrete, living reality. Napias' brief texts and Lefébure's lyrical photos have opened the city up in ways that even some native Parisians rarely experience. Have your Fodor or similar guide by all means, but tuck this little gem of a book in your bag alongside it!

Lovely book
We used this to find a few quiet spots on a recent trip. The author does warn the some spots may be closed if they become popular. That did happen to us, but we could see the pictured spot thru the iron gate. Would love to make a return trip and seek out a few more of these pleasant spots. Great notes on the spaces and lovely photos.

Paris is always a good idea
This is such an interesting book— filled with photos and facts of little-known places in Paris—that one would never find unless pointed out. If you are a true Francophile like I am, you will love adding it to your collection.

Wife Loves It
This was a gift for my wife. And all the title has to have in it is Paris, France/French,Julia Child or wine for her to love it. This book is no exception. If, however, I was reading this review I would not put much faith in the strong recommendation. It could be very good or it could be just so-so. I can only tell you that it has one of the key words in the title to make my wife a happy woman and thus me, a very happy husband.

Little known Paris
A great little book, although it would be better with maps (!). It takes the reader all over Paris and shares little treasures of the city that are less visited. I can't wait to get back to Paris to try out some of the spots.

Paris
A perfect little book to tuck into your suitcase or backpack for your trip to Paris. It shows quiet little parks in Paris that the normal travel books don't show. It will be great to find these places in Paris after all the busy sightseeing. Or if you are at home, it will just be fun to look at the pictures and dream of being in Paris.

A different way to explore Paris!
Having spent time in Paris and covered all the usual sights, it was wonderful to come across this book which takes you to unexpected corners of Paris that lie a stone's throw away form the tourist trail.Wonderfully concise descriptions and great photographs. Using it on our next visit in April!

Three Stars
I was not too pleased with photography. It lacks color and interest.

A perfect companion
I wanted a present for a friend who is moving to a new job and a life in Paris. She is single and enjoys art, architecture and photography . Looking in Amazon for a suitable book I made a very quick choice without knowing much about its contents. But what a little gem this has turned out to be - such a charming book, full of interesting places to visit - the perfect companion for someone new to the city and ideal for a woman on her own, free to wander and enjoy quiet corners of Paris.

This little book has been the backbone of two holidays in Paris now. I love it. We have found such lovely places to go- places that feel like home! I even bought another copy & took the (rather heavy card) covers off to make it easier to carry around!Very appealing writing & photographs
