Great Music!
but the formula that 7 of the 8 songs are written in gets a little repetitive. Other than that, tho, it's an amazing album and pretty solid.I'm not gonna say what most other reviews have said but I will note that this band must either have a tight relationship or they all hate each other to the extreme because of how fast and relentless these guys play. Or do they just make up all the music when they are off their meds?! Anyway it's no joke that these guys either are obsessed with playing fast or just have nothing better to do. Herman Li and Sam Totman are some incredible guitarists and are insane, no other way to say it. Their fingers are gonna fall off someday because the steroids they take will stop working. And Dave Mackintosh! WOW! I refuse to believe that someone can drum that fast. I know that people are always saying, "there's now way that the guitarists can go that fast" but I never hear anything about the drums! I mean is there another band with a drummer like this, because if there is, I wanna know. Until I have proof this is really a human drumming, I'm gonna say that a drum machine is what made this possible. Lastly before I tell you about the music itself, ZP Theart has an excellent voice. He sings with a lot of passion and has a very distinguished voice. On to the (Abnormally) fast music in this album:1. Through the Fire and Flames- For those of you that don't know this one, it's that really fast song in Guitar Hero. But seriously, it's a great song. I like the melody and just the song.2. Revolution Deathsquad- I think that this is the best song on the album (even though tracks 1 and 4 are the singles). This one just has the best melody and chorus of all the songs on the album IMO.3. Storming the Burning Fields- Another very melodic song. I like this one more than "Fire and Flames" too. This one is pretty dang catchy just like "Deathsquad".4. Operation Ground and Pound- This song starts off with a pretty mystical sounding drum intro. I like it. Then it becomes another catchy, melodic song with a guitar solo that goes on forever.5. Body Breakdown- This one is another underdog. The underdogs are tracks 2, 3, and this one and what I mean by underdog is that it's catchier than the singles and it wasn't even a b-side or anything! This one doesn't have the best melody but one of the best choruses: "In my heart, in my soul, I am out of control..." I like this one.6. Cry for Eternity- At this point of the album, The song being catchy isn't enough, it has to be great and have a mind-blowing melody. This one becomes filler because it just lasts forever and still follows the formula of verse, verse, prechorus, chorus, verse, verse, prechorus, chorus, 5 minute guitar solo, chorus, end.7. The Flame of Youth- This one is catchy but again, at this point, the listener is exhausted from rocking out. I really think that this one would stand good on it's own but it's just not in a good spot...8. Trail of Broken Hearts- FINALLY A BALLAD!!! This is what we needed at Track 4! Not that 4 and 5 aren't good songs, but it took me a long time to get into them because I'd listen to tracks 1, 2, & 3 and then I'd be exhausted from listening to it. I like this song but DragonForce's forte is making melodic power/speed metal songs.Verdict- Proceed with caution. If you think that you are getting something that's like Stratovarius, HammerFall, or Kamelot, then you are wrong. This band goes much faster and far beyond the norm of being power metal. DragonForce is just too power metal. They are never cease to be melodic. They are always doing something superfast and melodic. You could even say they are TOO MELODIC! The 3 aforementioned bands are fast but not this fast and their music also is more on the symphonic/progressive side of Power Metal where DragonForce is just pure Power Metal. If you like the sound of this, then Go for it. If not, you have been warned. It's a good disc though, but if you're like me and you're into stuff like Stratovarius, Kamelot, and Symphony X, this will be different from what you're expecting.

Very decent record from a very powerful band.
I have to say that after the first time that I listened to the whole record I wasn't so sure that i had made a good decission buying it But After the third time and listening in my car paying attention to the details in themusic and composition of their guitar players, I have to say that this is another solid effort by the band. Lyrics in this record are nos as good as past records, but the voice is strong and with nice variations in notes and rythym. I don't give it the five stars because I feel this record comes in a single direction, maybe I'm wrong, I can listen to it once in aday, but after repeating the whole record once, I prefer to change it, Cause I feel it's a little of thesame the whole album... having said that, I enjoy it when i play it.

Dragonforce puts the "M" back in Metal
Although not as good as their first album (Valley of the Damned), Dragonforce continues to impress me with their blazing fast riffs, complex chord progressions, and well orchestrated out of this world solos. Make no mistake, this is not the whiny touchy feely so called "Emo-Metal" that has been dominating the scene as of late. Nor is it the generic and lifeless KORN and Nickelback type crap that real metal fans have had to endure for so long. These guys are the inheritors of Dio and Iron Maiden, and I can only hope that they bring back a trend in Metal that once held an entire generation of headbangers enthralled.

pretty darn good
There is no doubt that these guys are tremendously talented. However, lyrically they are weak. I mean how many times can you hear about flying off to some far off land to fight the evil one and not get a little sick of the similarity in song themes. Their saving grace are their impromptu fills that are fun and goofy. I love the Helloween upbeat aspect, the Yngwie Malmsteen arpeggios, and do appreciate the fantasy overtones. I hope they evolve lyrically, it will definetly help their chances of being a premier (and lasting) metal act.

I feel the power!
I've purchased 4 other CDs of Dragonforce and love all five of them including this one. I've been listening to the CDs for about a month now and can't get tired of them. Their music is inspiring and makes you feel empowered (at least it does to me :D). If you like Dragonforce and don't have these songs, I suggest you get them lol.

I Know I Shouldn't Like This, But...
I was never a metaller when I was growing up in the 1980s. All my friends were into Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Manowar and so on, but yet I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. Said friends went far beyond the call of duty to get me to understand why True Metal was a concept worth fighting for. And they failed miserably. I guess I just wasn't ready or receptive enough to the idea. No matter. Even if it has taken me over twenty years to fully appreciate the Majesty Of Rock and the Mystery Of Roll, I get it now thanks to Dragonforce. To the uninitiated, the Dragonforce experience will seem daunting. Take a nice, well scrubbed classic rock song with a proper tune and a chorus even the most tone deaf of milkmen could whistle. The kind of tune that would charm the panties off your Fleetwood Mac loving mother and make your dad-rock father suspicious that someone has been performing immoral acts with his Dire Straits CDs. Make sure that the lyrics are meaningless AD&D themed twaddle that Thrudd The Barbarian (yet alone Conan) would dismiss as hackneyed. Get the bastard son of Ronnie James Dio to sing them, ensuring that every lyrical clanger is crystal clear to even the most casual of listeners. Add two guitarists and a keyboardist incapable of playing a simple riff without tweedle-deeing all over it at break-neck speed and alarming precision. Then get a drummer who would certainly fail an Olympic drug test to drum as fast as (in)humanly possible over the resulting confusion. And there might be a bassist there too. Perhaps. Play said song for six or seven minutes at 78rpm with a truck driver gear change for the last chorus, repeat to fade.None of this should work. These ingredients should result in an unlistenable mess, but somehow they don't. Admittedly the first time you hear Inhuman Rampage you may beg to differ, but give it time. By the third or fourth listen, the solos will start to show their nuances and the drumming, while frenetic, starts to appear, well, oddly sensible. Of course Mr Drummer needs to blast beat for six minutes continuously! How else could he play? By the sixth or seventh listen, it's much, much too late. You see, Dragonforce have three not so secret musical weapons in their armoury. One, they fully understand the evil concept of earworms. If you make a tune catchy enough the poor unfortunate listener will wander around all day with your tune playing on an infernal internal loop. Given what Dragonforce sound like, that's no mean achievement. Two, everything sounds bland, boring and slow after Dragonforce. I listen to music on my MP3 player on shuffle and believe me, Dragonforce in the middle of my usual mix of indie, alternative and electronica is the aural equivalent of a pneumatic drill in the nads.Three - Dragonforce evidently love what they do and their enthusiasm draws in and captivates the listener. Every twiddle, every bomp and every keyboardy flourish has been lovingly crafted, cogitated over, considered and executed with evident care for detail. Their music may be fast to the point of parody, the lyrics stupidly banal tripe and I doubt very much they were wearing trousers when performing these solos, but goddam it, these guys are good. You need one Dragonforce album in your life, so you might as well choose this one. That or Sonic Firestorm. Finally, a word of warning. Dragonforce are something to be sampled in small doses - a bit like fine Belgian dark chocolate. Listen to 'Operation Pound And Ground' or 'Cry For Eternity' in isolation and afterwards you'll feel ready to knock seven shades of poo out of any marauding orcs that may be lurking outside your suburban semi. Listen to the whole album in one sitting and you'll find yourself cowering like a sissy girl while six hairy men laugh at your inability to handle True Metal. And don't drive listening to this stuff. Just don't.

tasty enough
I had written dragonforce before as something as show ponies and to be fair that was with only watching their camp over the top videos but heck, it all makes sense once i bought this album, this is fun , fast, frantic, metal , power metal of course but there is plenty to enjoy here.I wouldnt say its the greatest thing in the world but i had a smile on my face at certain times at the way they go about their slaying, good album, i will get more of their stuff i reckon.
