Coloring is my Xanax!
I may be a senior citizen and grandma but I'm not going to let that keep me from enjoying my favorite hobby and that's coloring! Coloring takes me into a peaceful place where I am doing something lovely and creative and once I pick up one of my coloring books and color pencils I am transformed into another world it seems where there is only calmness and beauty. I was so thrilled to find coloring books for adults on Amazon and so far I've purchased around 31 of them (so many choices!!) and not one has disappointed me. I especially like Old-Fashioned Farm Life and have enjoyed it immensely because it takes me back to the days I was a little girl visiting my own grandparents farm and all the baby animals and wonders on it. What a wonderful treat that is!I think you will find total gratification with this excellent book with the scenes drawn and illustrated so carefully and beautifully. Who needs Xanax when they can color beauty and calmness into their soul? L)

I really like this book
I really like this book. I love history and i love coloring and this book combines the two. I don't like that they thought a picture of a hog being butchered and eviscerated as appropriate. I would not buy this for a child unless the child is used to farm life and understands about such things. Other wise very realistic historical color book.

Beautiful book
I bought this to use as an art companion to a homeschool history unit. My daughter was very pleased with the book.

ENJOY A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE:
This simple little color book brought me more pleasure than any of the many ones I have. I was privileged to grow up in the country and know the joy of growing vegetables, helping my grandmother gather the eggs-- feed the chicken. Watch my grandpa milk the cows and let me feed the foam to the barn cats. He bought me a horse and taught me how to ride and how to care for him. I learned to churn rich Jersey cow milk and get butter and buttermilk--how to wash the butter with cold spring water then put it in wooden molds! One was a plain box that gave a one pound block of butter and the other was round and had an acorn on top when you took the butter out of the mold, and it was a perfect 1/2 pound. I loved that one! Every page reminded me of my life on the farm. Watching the field hands plow, plant and harvest and got to ride the wagon when they cut corn and made corm stacks! Oh, my-- what kids miss out on when they can't live on a farm while growing up. You will love this little book--especially if you got to know country living! Its a great little book to enjoy sharing with the grandkids who haven't been as lucky as we were. Buy two or three of them!

Colorless Fun
Dover has been creating quality and affordable books since 1941. I grew up enjoying their coloring, stencil, sticker and puzzle books. This is a brand that has staying power with that artistic tradition now being passed down to my kids. Holiday favorites such as the Christmas Stained Glass Coloring Book (1973) while the Goddesses Coloring Book (2012) offers a new look on an old art form.We bought this Old-Fashioned Farm Life after a visit to Greenfield Village, MI, part of the Henry Ford Museum complex in Dearborn, MI. If you are planning a trip to this Midwest museum, my recommendation is to buy and review these pages before your trip and then have your kids color/review it after. The 44 pages accurately illustrate both the historical structures as well as the costumed role-players who populate the working Firestone Farm accompanied by a brief description of the daily and seasonal activities of a large farming operation. For East Coast readers, Greenfield Village is the 19th-century version of the 17th-century Plimoth Plantation located in Plymouth, MA. It's a terrific resource to prepare for your travel through time. The 1990-issued book needs updating; the real-life version includes the lives and games of farm children - activities missing from this work that would help personalize it to the target audience of 10 and older. I agree with another reviewer that the detailed line-drawings discourages coloring. For the price, though, it's an excellent educational - not artistic - investment.

More than a coloring book.
This coloring book is of pictures from typical farming activities that took place of a hundred years ago to today. There is a large introduction giving facts on the American people of the late 1700's to the 1800's. Each coloring page has detailed descriptions for the images about animal breeds, equipment, techniques, food and survival. An adult could appreciate this coloring book for its very detailed images and history, but it may be a little too much for younger kids. My 8 year old does enjoys it, but was shocked to find a page of a pig being butchered in detail. I should have browsed it first given that Dover coloring books are largely for adults. Overall, it's good and I would recommend it if your interested.

Encantador, rollo amish.

Beautiful, detailed pictures
I purchased this for my very avid 4 year old artist. The pictures are beautifully detailed. Even as much as he loves drawing and colouring and has talent in it, I still think it's too advanced for him, so I will wait a little longer to give it.This is something I would enjoy colouring in myself.

lovely
very nice pictures all full of interesting things in each if not all of the pictures...keeps them quiet for EVER, a good book book to add to other gifts, and also for elderly, too if they are getting over illness and this encourages them to pass the time too. I tried this with my mother, who had dementia, and colouring in pictures was her obsession for a long time....and in general , this book is lovely a good gift for anyone no matter what their age
