The journey is captivating, in large thanks to Ferry Corten's timely mixing.
OVERVIEWA dark, yet uplifting selection of trance tracks from late 2001 and early 2002. This compilation, properly mixed by Ferry Corsten, is a great follow up to the highly regarded Trance Nation series. Though this mix adapts more commercial tracks compared to previous offerings, it's important to note the "trance-formation" of this genre during the early 2000s. Trance had gained vast popularity after the golden era of the late 90s to the point that it had finally surfaced to the mainstream in 2002. Nonetheless, the commercial inclusions of Ian Van Dahl's 'Will I?' and Dee Dee's 'Forever' (to name a few) somehow meshed well within darker selections, such as 'On The Run' by Tillmann Uhrmacher and 'Outlaw' by Fu Man Choo. The diversity creates different levels of uplifting vibes and dark moods. The journey is captivating, in large thanks to Ferry Corten's timely mixing. It's important to note that the tracks were selected by Steve Canueto and Dipesh Parmar, not Ferry Corsten himself. Perhaps this would have been a very different mix if Ferry Corsten had been given full control of the compilation. At the end of the day, this mix is very satisfying, staying true to the ever evolving genre. I tend to listen to CD2 more often, since it has an excellent build up and a more diverse selection of tracks. CD1 is more uplifting, great for night drives. I don't mind commercial trance, as long as there is diversity. In my opinion, this mix is strong because it has a good vocal to instrumental ratio (nearly 1:1). Stand out tracks include 'Close Cover' by Minimalistix, 'The Legacy' by Push, 'One For You (Oliver Klien Remix)' by James Holden, 'Razorfish (Above & Beyond's Progressive Mix)' by Tranquility Base and 'For A Lifetime (Alex Gold vs Coast 2 Coast)' by Ascension.SUCCESSES01 Diverse selection of tracks.02 Properly mixed.03 The journey/story unfolds with every transition.OPPORTUNITEIS01 Could have given Ferry Corsten more creative freedoms, including track selection.02 Album art detracts from previous installments.

I don't get why people Over-rated this cD!!!
i bought this cd based on the previous 5-star reviews, and have to say, I was very disappointed with this cd. I mean, I am a big fan of Ferry Corsten's work in the previous Trance Nations...I don't know what happened with this one, but there was nothing in there that was really bouncing...many of the tracks were sounding like very ordinary club music...i didn't feel like I was gettin the European/English Trance treatment that Ferry usually puts on.If ur a Beginner in ur love of trance, this might not be a bad cd for u, as are all the Trance Nations (1-4), but, clearly, if u have moved on, this isn't for you. For advanced trance lovers,I HIGHLY recommend Magik v.6 by DJ Tiesto...that will surely get u dancing.

Can this guy get any better??
So far I've bought Trancemissions 01&02 and now Trance Nation. All of the cds are great! I can't decide which one I like the most!! They are just good cds -- normally you have to skip around to find the tracks you like, not on this cd. The track selection is perfect in my opinion. I think I'm gonna go buy some more of his stuff right now....

Trance going downhill?
I love Ferrys work...so i do not fault him for this CD. More and more, trance seems to be going vocal, to feed the appetite of those who cannot live without vocals in their songs. Its sad...seeing people depend so much on vocals in a song to make it a song. One of the reasons i got into trance is that there were no vocals...it was different, not distracting, and even at 140-160 BPM, it was relaxing. Now, with all the vocal releases coming into the scene, artists are concentrating less on melodies, and more on just banging out another track. I will not fault Ferry for this...it's just the scene. Look at the old classics we used to have (Binary Finary - 1998, Armin - Communication, System F (ferry) - Out of the Blue..) compared to whats "hot" now (Kosheen - Hide U, Tukan - Light a Rainbow, Gouryella (ferry) - Ligaya...) Its sad.

Ferry please please get away from MOS albums
Why oh why does a brilliant master of the trance genre feel he has to keep churning out turgid Ministry of Sound compilations?. These mixes are great for those just getting to grips with the sound but true fans look elsewhere. The MOS comilations seem have that 60s thing about the 3minute sound bite ie the mixes are way too short, the tracks used are usually old and found elsewhere months before release by MOS and lastly there are always too many fillers on anything they release. Ferry has done much much better and will do again, This album gets 3 stars for nothing more than the brilliant Armin Van Buuren mix of the best thing released in 2001- 'Rapture' by Iio.
