Bill Pertwee's The Warden Says - A Collection of Wartime Public Information Films [VHS] : Bill Pertwee, Ministry of Information - 1939-1945, Bill Pertwee, Ministry of Information - 1939-1945: desertcart.co.uk: DVD & Blu-ray Review: OK - OK Review: An interesting selection of instructional films - but WHAT IS THIS??!!!?? - The previous review of this was very reasonable - these are Ministry of Information films from the Second World War linked by Bill Pertwee (Warden Hodges in "Dads Army") - It's interesting to see what The Powers That Are considered it important for the public to know. I personally was amazed to see an MoI film regarding salvage of bones featuring George The Brewery Ghost that I remembered from seeing on the TV ("All Our Yesterdays" with Brian Inglis) when a child - definitely a plus as far as I was concerned. The MoI featured well known actors of the day in these movies - there is an appearance by Cyril Fletcher doing an odd ode on the subject of trapping germs in your handkerchief (a message that bears repeating these days as well) - and, wonder of wonders, an "is it?no, it can't be - it IS" moment in one of the films about saving fuel when I recognised George Cole as a schoolboy talking to Alistair Sim, as Nero! (and breaking a violin over Nero's head for wasting fuel!) Definitely an inexpensive gem and an excellent introduction to the joys of That Which You Need To Know And Consider!

Bill Pertwee's The Warden Says
Excellent DVD. THe Warden Says is a wonderful collection of WW2 Public Information films. The extra treat was having dear Bill introducing them.

Interesting and informative. Expected Region 2, but is actually Region 0. Plays on Region Free player, but also on Region 1.
