Penn-PlaxWave-Runner Pirate Ship Aquarium Decoration – Safe for Freshwater and Saltwater Fish Tanks – Large

The media could not be loaded.  I received my wave runner today via USPS which kinda surprised me as I’m used to UPS. It had a crunch on the outer box but was undamaged. This is some piece. It is beautifully colored in brown with yellow and dark red highlights. The sails are a brushed gray. I didn’t think I’d like the bottom dark blue and white waves but I do. It adds another color palette for plants and is whimsical. My grandkids will love it and are the crew on my ship. My 75 gallon tank has a footprint of 48” by 18” so there is room for the Penn Plax granite set for cichlids I plan to have. The ship has eleven places where fish can swim through including the sails and beams. Some thing that is lacking it in the red white and green sets per at least one reviewer of those. The tank is 21” high so it looks great when placed on a couple inches of sand. It does!!As far as value, I saw some ships with cloth sails I liked better at Petsmart but at a higher price. And they have others as well which are in a similar price range as the runner by a different manufacture. Worth looking at. Based on the water level of my tank, there were concerns about the size of the one I liked best. And cloth would probably not have a good result over time in a aquarium setting given algae, gunk and what not. Upon execution I don’t believe I could have done any better than the wave runner. Stunning. The wave runner is a great deal at $45.I was concerned about the reviewer(s) that warned of toxic paint flaking so I called their customer service. Their sole rep said paint is fish safe and the vessel is then coated to avoid flaking. She said at least one of the complaints came from someone who used bleach on it. I’m convinced by her since otherwise Penn plex would have big trouble with their whole line of ornaments. Regarding the smell, I gave mine a good rinse. I am not overly concerned since carbon chemical filtration will remove chemical compounds. Don’t smell anything though.The last picture shows the TopFin hideaway structures I needed for my cichlids. These are available at Petsmart. I purchased these rather than the Penn Plax set because of the prep work needed for those and apprehension regarding the sizing. It took two minutes to sand sharp places off the TopFins and it a very close match to the ship.I saw a YouTube of using plasti dip I want to pass on. You can paint the back of your aquarium with it and skip the backgrounds. It’s rubber-like, cheap, available in multi colors, and comes off easily if you want to change it up later. Kinda excited about it. It worked well and certainly find black obscures all the necessary filtration tubes, heater and the like in the tank. Note it yields a flat black!You can’t go wrong with this ship. It’s wonderful.Best Regards,

I love the bottom of the boat but the sails are not as colorful as what is depicted in the picture.There's hardly any green coloring and the flag is just the same color as the sails (it's not black). It was well packaged and nothing was broken that I noticed. It's still an all-around good piece for your aquarium. This is going in a 55 gallon and will fit nicely.

The media could not be loaded.  I love this ship! It fits perfect in my 125 gallon tank! The colors are awesome and it’s pretty durable. I’ve had it in my tank for several months now. Unless a fish can get under it, there doesn’t seem to be any accent points to get stuck inside. And the value for the money... awesome!

This piece is beautiful! It is the perfect size for my 55 gallon tank and the perfect price. This is comparable to other ships that are double or even triple the price. It does not have the bright green on the sails as in the picture and I am very happy about that! I got my tank for Christmas and I cannot wait to start adding a few more decorations to complement my ship!

The Penn Plax Large Pirate Wave Runner is an AWESOME piece for $40. My wife and I were in PetSmart, and saw comparable size aquarium ship pieces for $90. They were not nearly as detailed or colorful. This piece is 17" long, 5 7/16" wide in the front, 5" wide in the back, and 14 13/16" tall to the highest point when assembled. It is shipped in 2 pieces. If I were to change anything about it, it would be that there should be cut outs in the ship or waves to utilize the void inside it to give fish more places to hide/swim. I'm going to try to cut a couple of holes in it, hopefully I don't break it! I highly recommend this piece!!!!!

Nice looking ship,looks great in fish tank ! Does put off a weird smell in fish tank I’m real glad it didn’t have fish at that point I had to reset up tank and soak ship in tub for a couple days ! No more smell!!!! I’m very pleased with the quality and price

Love this product, looks great in the aquarium, 60 gallon. Have wanted something like this for a while but the products in stores were either tacky and cheap looking or too expensive. The design and attention to detail makes this look more expensive than it was. As for the packaging, probably a bigger box might be a better idea, the tip of the mast was poking out of the box, luckily nothing got broken, but that aside, great buy.

Bought for my granddaughter n me. Very intense project. You have to make sure each piece is put in the right direction for to work. We both liked the way it was able to bend bc of the way it made. Pretty cool. Going to buy another for us to do. Yea, its a challenge, but good for the brain.

The ship arrived with a broken anchor and not the color shown in picture. I found one 20 bucks cheaper and bigger the day before this arrived but tired of trying to finish aquarium. Its good quality but disappointed in the two other issues.
