This book is entertaining (and as a side note, it has made me money in the cryptocurrency market)
This book is for non-traders. You don't need to have any technical knowledge of trading to understand it and find it highly entertaining and informative.I recommend it, If anything, to learn about Richard Dennis and his reality TV style antics in the 80s futures markets. He basically put a craigslist ad up saying that anyone could apply to trade with his system of rules, no experience required, and heβd give them all 1 million dollars of his money to trade with. The majority of the people had no trading experience, they knew nothing about the markets they were trading in nor how to trade β¦ but they were very successful, some of them are still trading today with their own billion dollar funds. While reading the book in 2013, it just so happened to be around when bitcoin popped. I started using his rules to trade altcoins and I made a bunch of money following his strategy laid out in the book!I've actually been using this book as a guideline to trade cryptocurrencies since then on and off, and I've netted well over 6 figures trading the turtle trading method. The author, Michael Covel has a great podcast as well. Don't bother with any of Covel's other books - Trend Following, Trend Commandments, etc are just rehashes of the same story. There's no solid strategy in any of his other books. THIS is the one you want to get.If you don't get this book you should at least subscribe to his podcast, in fact, in Covel's other audiobooks, he includes about 5 hours of his podcast episodes at the end ... just skip buying the other books and listen to the podcast episodes with the Tom Basso and other traders.

Good book on the Turtles
I, like everyone it seems, am intrigued by the whole Turtle Trading idea. I am one of those people that has spent a lot of money on books and classes always trying to hone my investing skills and admitedly looking for any "edge" that I can get. I purchased this book with the hope that it would give me a little insight into the system that the Turtles used to succeed and unlike other Turtle books this one actually delivered for the most part. There is a chapter that talks about calulating your "Expectation" or edge when calculating performance or tradeing methodology. Mind you there was no real "system" that was divulged line by line, however this book went further than others to explain the thought and methodology that went into the Turtle trading training. One thing that might be reassuring to non-day traders is the premise layed out in the book that the Turtles spent a lot of time sitting around doing nothing. They did not force trades and only placed trades when the conditions were favorable. When a trade was initiated there were definite exit strategies that were not varied from. For someone like me who if very "systemetized" this was nice to know. Now if we could just find the ever-elusive full proof system. The other thing that was different and informative was that it gave you the success rates of many of the Turtle traders. It also talked about what some of the Turtles did after they they left and were out on their own.All in all this was a pretty good book. It might have been nice to have more real world examples of how the methods are/were applied but overall it was a pretty easy read and gave a little more insight into the Turtles and what made them so successful.

Have You Ever Heard of Turtle Trading?
Great read. I have heard this story a few time but never really got the details. This book outlines the age old question of nature vs. nurture. Can ordinary people be trained to beat the market or do they need an extraordinary skillset? Richard Dennis was one of the greatest traders of all time.

An honest review
I want to say that I believe that this was the best most objective account and in depth account of the turtle story that I came across.I gave it three stars because it fell short of my expectations which albeit may have been unfair.I am going to read more of Covel's writing next on list Trend Following. I am a loyal listener to his podcast I would say that this guy's genius is in his own thinking and investigation and I would expect that other work that is more original or more geared directly toward his passion will has far exceeded this.I look forward to anything this guy puts out from this point. It is worth a read but understand this is an account of the Turtle story and is much in a very report / objective fashion.

So far this has been a good book on trading
So far this has been a good book on trading. I got some really good pointers from it. For one thing I have been dabbling in trading for a long time, mostly currencies, not a pro but in between, good and not so good. I have looked at many methods, but everything leads to the same conclusion, you cannot predict the markets or which way the trend is going to go or how long it's gonna last, no way! You can make a prediction, but in trading predictions are based on probabilities, not wild guesses, although you can go this route. This book is great in the fact that it teaches common sense no how market awareness is in trends. Wish I had read this book a long time ago, but the proof is in the pudding, so if and when I finally can call myself a pro trader I guess I won't have to seek advice anymore.
