Don't waste your money
Don't waste your money unless you simply just want a blue moon light. The sensor is terrible. Does not sense day light or even light unless you literally have a light hanging over the sensor. Biorb should recognize this flaw. Not worth the money. I wish I would of listened to prior reviews and just invested a little more money into the intelligent light by Biorb.

baby bio ord warning
I ordered this and upon receipt opened package and afer pllugging it in for a day discovered it was defective - when I contacted the seller, I would have to pay not only a shipping and handling fee, but a 40% charge for just opening the package!!! not acceptable

Fantastic!
This is a wonderful, initially pricey, product. It works very well, you will be impressed how responsive it is and knowing that while I'm away from home with someone else feeding them, that the fish are getting a more natural environment with the automatic lighting. I only wish I could turn the full light on while in low light without taking the lid apart. Fantastic addition to my beautiful aquarium.

Nice light for both day and night, but sensor is off!
I bought the moonlight so that I wouldn't have to switch the light on and off and so that there would be a little bit of ambient light at night. My tank sits on a table near my front window, but it still could not sense that it was daytime or nighttime and would almost always remain on the blue (night) light setting and rarely display the white (day) light. This could be okay, if I could just manually switch it from the night setting to the day setting -- but that's not an option. You switch it on, and it relies on a sensor to determine which setting to use. Be wary that this may not work correctly for you, depending on the amount of light in your house. If you don't have your tank near a bright kitchen light that is on all day or in a bright office setting, it probably will think it is almost always night time and you won't be able to see much of anything in your tank.I ended up switching back to the standard light and shelved this one.

but my poor fish have been in the dark for a while ...
I wish I had read the reviews before buying this (I don't know why I didn't - I usually read reviews before buying something, but my poor fish have been in the dark for a while and I was in a hurry). The daytime sensor does not work unless I leave the ceiling light turned on in the room all day and tip the lid a bit so that the sensor is pointed toward the light. I need a daytime light for the biorb because the light in the room is a bit dim, even when the window shutters are open. It is far from pitch dark in the room, just not very bright. This thing just defeats Its own purpose!

Manufacturing flaw- they did not spend enough money on the sensor
The sensor on the item is not sensitive enough. I have 100 watt lightbulbs in the room with the Biorb moonlight and it will not turn on to the daylight setting unless I direct light directly at the sensor with a mirror or aluminum foil. The only light it will react to is direct sunlight. Since it says explicitly on the Biorb tank: Do Not put the tank in direct sunlight or rays -may cause fire; the product is basically useless. and has a huge manufacturing flaw. That is unless you want me to risk setting my home on fire. Please give me instructions of how to return the biorb moonlight.

Handy to own
This is a very good product but ensure you have your biorb close to a window or buy a small clip on light like I did from argos to shine down on the sensor as on a cloudy day it will stay on moonlight mode.

Useless in the standard home
This is useless unless you have a lot of light in the room or the tank is in direct sunlight. Was very excited when this arrived, I had promise my fish one since last year. The moonlight looked fab, very disappointed this morning when I saw the daylight wasn't on, so I switched on the room light 5 bar each with 60w. No change. Thought my sensor was dodgy so got a torch out and shone it at the sensor. It worked! Even with the room light on and the side lights oh and the daylight I can't get it to work unless a torch is almost on top of it. Tried angling the lamp and tin foil. Nothing has worked so it's going back. Deeply deeply disappointed, it's a brilliant concept but the photocell just isn't sensitive enough. So that means I'm back to turning the light on and off.

... the moon the light during the day really is fantastic and the fish look vibrant
was hesitant due to some of the reviews for this light but gave it a go and I'm over the moon the light during the day really is fantastic and the fish look vibrant, we used to turn off light at night and now its this nice low blue light the fish appear happier. worth the money.

A good idea, just needs more development to be useful
The sensor on this light only works in direct sunlight or with a torch directed at the sensor. My biOrb is in the corner or my dining room and typical daylight, or the room lights on, is not enough to activate the white light. Only when the sun is really bright does the light switch on and when you walk past, the shadow is enough to turn the light off, I have just ordered the same unit but with the built in 24hr timer as the 'moonlight' setting is good for the night/evening but I just would like the white light to be on during the day and early evening so I can see my fish.
