This is actually a nice wooden set. I recommend it. I wish it was a little heavier though.

It's a great product, but they were some minor details that could improve.One of the pieces (King) had some glue that was shown, but if it was for someone just playing it is not as obvious. Also, there was a black scratch on the case, maybe a quarter of an inch (.635 cm).I guess in the end, I am glad I purchased it but with its price little too high, although since it's made in Poland I understand why it is that high.

Wooden, large size chessboard pieces. The fact that they come in a box keeps them safe. Traveling with a large box, not so easy, however these are nice pieces. I bought them as a back-up. My kids live to play chess and take with them while camping. Late night sitting around that campfire or to the beach while camping. Nice pieces. Our chessboard is on the larger side and these work well. The base of each piece is felted. Each has decent weight. Made in Poland. Used my nail scrubber to show size of pieces to give you a better idea re size.

I purchased this for my husband who is an avid chess player. He loves these hand carved pieces. Very well made.

After searching for a spare set of decent wooden chess pieces, I had nearly written these off because I was not expecting anything at this price point. But, I took the risk knowing it wasn't a big investment, and I was pleasantly surprised! Just rating the pieces and box at face value I might give it 4 or 4.5 stars. They are nice wooden pieces and decently weighted, but neither the pieces nor the box strike me as "indestructible". But, with normal use and proper care, these should provide an excellent return on such a modest investment!Update: For anyone interested.......since the interior of the box is bare, I bought a 99 cents 12x18 sheet of foam in a craft store. About 30 minutes with a tape measure, a paper slicer, and some glue and the box is now padded. And I am Mr. Zero at being "crafty", so anyone can do it.

I purchased these pieces in 2015. Since then, they have held up great. They look nice, and the pieces smelled of a wood stain when I received them. They are not triple-weighted - only single weighted, so if that's what you're looking for, another set may be of interest to you. I still appreciate them, as they were a low-cost alternative to the many plastic piece sets on the market.
