I love getting lost in this book and feeling transported in time. The pages and hard cover are sturdy enough for the many guests that will inevitably thumb through it while "oohing" and "ahhing." A must for glam girls and art deco lovers.

My first words when opening the package were "Oh, WOW." This is a stunning book with large, richly colored photos of the art on every page, and just the right amount of copy. The online picture of the cover does not do it justice. It is beautiful and it sparkles. I'm very pleased and highly recommend this book.

This is a great book for examples and a history of the Art Deco design. Although the movement started in Europe first, I would have appreciated more pictures about the American movement. The various European schools are discussed in detail with many artists listed and their works shown. The Paris art deco fair of 1925 which exposed many to the design is shown as well as the New York World's Fair of 1939. Very good and educational book about the background and influence Art Deco had on design. Included are art, posters, glass, sculpture, clothing, architecture and home furnishings. Just wish some of those great Hollywood movie interiors of the 20's and 30's were included.

Lovely book and very informative. Learned about a few artists that I haven’t ever heard of nor seen their work.

For those who are interesed in the Art Deco movement, this book is a beautiful presentation of the graphic arts and illustration from that period. Presented with very interesting background information.

Stunning material but .. It covers only part of what is a fascinating creative time, incredibly talented people would loved to see more, generally very good, I bought a used version which was in pristine condition, the fly leaf said a Christmas present , one I feel never opened, their loss was my gain. Beautiful book! My daughter loved it. It's not only filled with great illustrations and art of the era, but also has enough information to also be educational. Great gift!

I purchased this book online based on a recommendation. My recommendation is: Don’t purchase this book. The writing is dull, occasionally pompous. I was not surprised when I reached the author descriptions at the end to discover that they were both academics. This is a classic example of the academic’s ability to reduce the most exciting events and creations of humanity to tedious lists of names and dates. It was as exciting as reading a dictionary. The majority of images focus on the authors’ few favourite artists for whom we are also given biographies. The book ignores many famous examples and artists of Art Deco to make more room for these rave favs of the authors. I own several books about Art Deco—which I love—and this is the first one I have bought that I will be disposing of. It has no place on a shelf with books that honour the movement.

This is a gorgeous book with a lot (and I do mean a lot) of amazing pictures/photos.It’s very informative and full of interesting things about the Art Deco period - the pictures are all relevant and often very thought provoking (remember it was the 30s).This is a pretty big book too with a lovely embossed cover. The beautiful picture on the front of the dust cover is also (to my delight) on the actual book itself - sometimes the book is plain and the dust cover colourful but not in this case.The only negative is that some of the pictures show half naked ladies (doesn’t bother me in the slightest) but if you have children of a certain age I’d imagine it would make for interesting discussions!A fantastic book

No le puse el tope de valoración porque esperaba más imágenes artísticas de art decó..como más decorativo todo. Hay muchas referencias pero no las imágenes fantasiosas que esperaba encontrar.

Beautiful images! The book is divided into different categories which cover different aspects of art and fashion during that period. It also highlights the most influential artists of that time. A great source of inspiration.
