Could be a good product
The unit is cheaply made. Not a real 4 port repeater. One port must be used as a connection port. The biggest draw back is the European electrical connection. With an adapter it may have crashed my HD. Returning it to Amazon.

Dont waste your money on this junk!
Junk! I purchased this in hopes of adding greater stability to my Firewire connections over daisy-chaining. Instead, with use of this unit, my system had much greater instability, including drives un-mounting out of the blue, connected devices not working, data not transferring, etc.. I had to pull it out of my system and go back to daisy-chaining the Firewire, and things are working much more reliably now! Even if this device worked properly, I would consider it over-priced, since it is actually a simple splitter (one in; two out), and should therefore not even be called a "hub". Worst purchase I've made in a very long time!

Stay away from this garbage
This is the worst possible repeater and a complete rip off. I owned this repeater for more than 5 years and it has never ceased to make me angry about the quality. It does not complete with a us plug and the packaged adapter has a fault contact. A slight shake will disconnect the device. The price is sky high just because no one else is offering an alternative. I used to pay $80 and this is now $130!

The Plug won't work in the US
Ordered through Amazon and it took 3 weeks to get here. When I opened it, the plug is not one that will work in the US. Contacted Amazon about it and they could not help me and gave me a refund. Nice to get the refund but it doesn't help me have a Firewire Hub that works.

Very stupid and annoying
The power adapter that is supplied with this hub comes with a plug that doesn't fit a US 110 volt powerpoint (electrical outlet), and this is not even mentioned or illustrated in the scant literature that comes with the hub. Presumably one needs another powerpoint adapter (not included) to allow it to be plugged in, and one would then have to hope that this doesn't end up frying the hub, or one's computer. Very stupid and annoying.

It would appear that Lindy falsely backed their item. ...
It would appear that Lindy falsely backed their item. While they sent me a second one to test, they never admitted fault in giving me any refund for purchasing it, when I found out both the original product, and the replacement were defective. Nowhere did they inform me ahead of time I had to use the original packaging. And here I read now on Amazon at least two other people attempted buying it to no avail. Wish I had read these reviews ahead of time. The device simply does not work as advertised. Hubs share data through a single port to multiple devices. Calling it a hub is false advertising.

Great FW800 hub
Product arrived quickly and well packaged. Includes power supply, although it is UK plug style wall-wart and not possible to change to european-style. Would be nice if there was a separate power cable...However, I have some plug adapters so it is not a big problem. Tested with FW800 drive connected directly to iMac and MacBook Pro (both recent models) and through the Lindy hub - transfer speeds were identical. Should note that 3-ports include one which is connected to computer, so 2 are available for attached devices. Have not tried with 2 drives attached and running at same time but I would expect 2 drives would be limited by throughput of single connection to Mac. In my experience, unless copying single large files, USB3 does not really offer any advantage over FW800 (except with SSD storage)
