More a promotional guide to select bespoke outfitters than a pictorial essay on Italian style per se....
There’s a point where repetition really starts to dilute effect - and given that the bulk of the book focuses directly on the histories of eminent tailors/shirt makers, with seemingly ENDLESS photos of bolts, scissors, workshops and the proud family owners, I found my interest waning fairly quickly. How many half finished jackets do we need to look at before we get the message that personal tailoring is exactly that? The final much shorter sections on gloves, umbrellas and shoes lifted my spirits a little....but not enough to merit giving this unimaginatively executed tome a permanent space on my coffee table or bookshelf.

A brilliant book with in depth research on many great artisans in Italy. The focus is on bespoke but not exclusively so.Highly recommended for anyone who has an interest in high end menswear.
