Growing up, I had a similar bed in my room. The construction of this frame doesn't come close to what I had. There was a "scissor" mechanism on the pop up frame that kept the bed even as you rolled it out or under the other bed. The frame itself was a heavier gauge steel, no hollow headboard/footboard. The footings on this frame, have cheap plastic covers (missing one) that caused concern as possibly damaging wood floors (getting caster cups for added protection). My son and his wife moved in due to being temporarily displaced. We set up the bed and he was lying on the pop up part, she sat down and the entire bed dropped. Might not have been in a locked position? With no instructions included, it was trial and error in opening and closing the bed. First thought was that we were very lucky no one got hurt. I fault the manufacturer for not including instructions on safely operating the bed. Amputated toes/feet could be very real.Other than the above points the beds are...beds. Mattresses are ok. This was a quick last minute purchase. Saw it elsewhere for almost twice the price and at this price I was sold. Haven't heard any complaints from the kids yet. Thinking of strapping the mattresses, but son likes the couch option during the day.
