You'll be giggling about how little you spent on such a nice product.This is apparently an affordable clone of the EHX Small Stone phaser. EHX has since booted the original from the lineup and has recreated the Small Stone phaser several times since. Now while I have NO EXPERIENCE with any of the EHX pedals mentioned above, I have seen frequent comments that the new EHX Small Stone phasers sound "different" (usually with some negative connotation or inflection) and that they fail to give that authentic/genuine feel that the original EHX Small Stone pedal provided.In waltzes Behringer, dancing in the limelight with this beautiful product. Again, since I have no experience with the previously mentioned EHX stuff, I am forced to trust the common hearsay that this BEHRINGER VP1 Vintage Phaser pedal is an ABSOLUTE CLONE of the original EHX Small Stone.Now for my experience: It's freakin' awesome. It's is super underrated. And the chassis is made of metal and the pedal also has a removable panel to plug in a 9V battery, if that's your thing.Color switch works perfectly. UP position affects the note, DOWN position affects the tone. It sounds super lovely no matter which you choose. Knobs feel solid. The only common gripe is the actual button switch that toggles between ON/OFF states with a VERY LOUD click. You can literally hear the budget cuts Behringer made with a click like that. That's the ONLY downside.But you know what? Look at that juicy price. Now tell me, wouldn't you like to spend so little for something so high quality and still have money to BUY SOMETHING IN ADDITION?10/10 product.

My VP1 unit arrived in excellent condition. I have only tested it out for maybe twenty minutes at this point, but can report that in the effects loop of an SWR California Blonde, it cleanly affected the guitar as intended. I could hear a very subtle change in the amp when not playing - like there was some hum that I'd not percieved that was actually getting removed in the phasing cycle, then returning. This went away when the effect was bypassed, and I also tried turning the "effect blend" down all the way on the amp with the effect on - at that point it became evident that my amp has a little self noise that this unit was simply removing. Reports are that this is not a "true bypass" pedal, and I cannot confirm nor deny that. The specs included do state an input impedance of 100k and output impedance of 15k. The battery compartment is easily accessed, but the battery clip is built into the compartment door, and beyond that is the abyss of the relatively simple innards - I could imagine a battery could slip from the clip and flop around causing damage in transit. And I cannot yet speak for the longevity of the item. The phaser has a "tone" switch that switches it from negative feedback to positive feedback, and the range available in each mode is set. I find that though a depth knob would be nice, the preset range is very usable - the positive setting is more warbly and the negative setting is more vertigo inducing. The rate knob goes from sooo slow to faster than I need. Currently I'm satisfied, excited to spend more time with it. If I've not returned to update or comment, the item has likely met with my constant approval! For reference, I also have a Dunlop Roto-Vibe and have had a original MXR Phase 100 (which I do wish I still had). The neg/pos toggle on this unit makes worth having on the same board as the Rotovibe for the negative feedback position. The MXR was definitely noisier when I had it.

Not enough chorus effect on this pedal for me. Very disappointed.

I have about 12 stomp boxes, some that cost 10 times as much as this pedal. I gave this pedal a shot because I wanted to use a phaser on some songs in the studio and when I velcro'd this thing to my pedal board, I was blown away! I didn't want to spend too much money on an effect that I wouldn't be using all that often so I went ahead and purchased this so called copy of another pedal, even though I think it has a unique sound of its own. Very warm and lush sounding phase and super easy to dial in a good tone. It has a momentary switch so that means no click when you press it. I didn't notice any tone suck when I added this to my pedal board. I have mostly all true bypass pedals and a few pedals with buffers in them. I guess this pedal may actually be "true bypass"? The metal box seems sturdy enough to stomp on but the switch doesn't; it has a spring underneath that's pushing a plastic "on/off" button. The knob and the pot shaft are both made of plastic and seem a little unstable, though I doubt it will break unless you literally stomp on the knob itself. Input and Output jacks are all metal and seem durable...Overall, this pedal is the best value for a phaser that I've ever encountered. If you're actually going to play some gigs with it, I recommend buying a 3PDT switch to replace the cheap one so that you can feel confident with "stomping" on it, or you can get a true bypass looper. After any of these upgrades, you'll still be at a 1/4 of the cost of some the hyped-up boutique phasers that are like $300. I really like this phaser so much that I'm going to be doing a video review very soon. Also because there aren't many decent reviews of this pedal anyway. Buy this pedal, you won't be disappointed!

Just buy it, you know you want it. That phase shifting sound is so cool. Paired with a generic delay, a BOSS DS1 through a Blues Jr with my Tele sounds like I meant it to... Dang sweet. Great price for a really nice pedal.
