M.2 NVMe Enclosure, Tool Free NVMe and SATA, 10Gbps External SSD Enclosure, Reusable Thermal Pad, Compatible with 2230 2242 2260 2280 (EC-SNVE)

After testing several so-called “universal” M.2 enclosures, this is the first one that actually delivers. The Sabrent Tool-Free M.2 NVMe/SATA Enclosure supports both NVMe and SATA M.2 SSDs (M-Key and B+M Key), and in my case, it worked flawlessly with a 1TB NVMe and a 256GB SATA drive — truly plug and play, no firmware updates, no USB setting tweaks, no hassle. The build quality is outstanding. It's made from solid, thick aluminum, giving it a premium feel and excellent heat dissipation. The tool-free, hinged design makes drive installation incredibly fast — it literally takes seconds to swap drives. This is especially useful if you regularly clone or rotate SSDs. The included USB-C to USB-C cable is high quality, and long enough for desk use, though I wouldn’t mind a bit more length. One small gripe: I wish they had included a USB-C to USB-A adapter or a second cable. Not every system has native USB-C, and an adapter would make this even more versatile out of the box. Performance-wise, it lives up to the 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard. Both SSDs I tested reached their expected speeds without thermal throttling, thanks to the aluminum housing acting as a heat sink. In summary: This is a fantastic, well-designed enclosure with true dual-protocol support, excellent thermal performance, and reliable USB connectivity. If you're looking for a versatile external SSD enclosure that just works, this is it. Highly recommended.

Great shell to make my old M2 drive into an external SSD. Portable and widely compatible due to the inbuilt USB c cable. Doesn't seem to get hot at all during use. Easy to fit the drive into and seems very sturdy. Wouldn't be worries about this breaking. All in all, works great!

Metal heatsink is functional, with a thermal pad included inside to wick heat from your M.2 SSD. The main body and latch mechanism is made from plastic but I've no concerns at all regarding quality. The plastic appears to be used in the right places for the price point without compromising functionality. 20cm USB-C to USB-C cable is included (but no USB-A adapter, so just a heads up). Really simple but good design that allows for really easy opening and closing without tools. It's really convenient if you want to swap out the SSD (like I was looking for). This is capable of accepting multiple formats of M.2 ssd as well as multiple lengths. The SSD is secured with a plastic turn-tab, maintaining the toolless approach to this design

It works as you would think, slot your nvme and interface using usb c . Simple plug and play. When I did a 400gb write to a 500gb drive I saw temps in excess of 70 degrees c. The drive didn't throttle but if you're going to use this consistently then it's not good for drive health long term. I added an additional NVMe thermal pad and temps maxed out in the mid to high 50s never hitting 60 in the same stress test. I feel the enclosure is solid and the nvme is held down securely. I've seen people complain that it is too hard to move the knob but they are underestimating the importance of fastening down the drive.

Got it to change my ssd drive on my laptop. Did the job perfectly - easy to install, nice and light and a nice look.

Good build quality. Easy, and tool-free, to fit an Nvme ssd drive. Very fast & smooth to run an alternative OS on my computer via usb c thunderbolt port

Took my old Steam deck 64gb m2230 card out and placed it in the enclosure. Much cheaper than buying a USB drive and also much faster. Worked as promised and simple to add the drive. Now lives in my bag for quick extra storage.

Did exactly what I needed it for, put Samsung 990 pro M.2 2280 in no problem and cloned old ssd drive ready to replace with no issues.
