Can Trudy and Clement get any better?
Just when you think that things can't get any better, along comes A Fatal Night! As an avid reader of 'who done its' I have been overwhelmed by the Loveday and Ryder series ... most excellent!Another 5-star read!

Slightly disappointing
This book was slightly disappointing and yet I can't really say why. I just know that at the end I felt, oh I don't know, let down somehow. Maybe I missed something along the way so perhaps I'll read this again soon and then see how I feel about it.

Very enjoyable
As usual a pleasant piece of escapism, with some clever twists to the expected red herrings. Worth reading the whole series.

A Fatal Night
Another well written novel by Ms. Martin. The research of that last really cold winter in the UK was good and the vintage feel of the time excellent. Mistakes by some authors of attitudes and relative wealth and spending power of people in the 1950s and 1960s, can ruin a book for me. There was none of that here. The characters were excellently portrayed and the scenes brilliantly described. You could empathise with them trying to get anywhere in the snow and putting up with the persistant cold before central heating was the norm. The problems and delays in getting information long before computers were common and the internet and mobile phones invented.

Utterly Brilliant!!
I have so much respect for this author having read the previous stories in this series and indeed other books she has written. This is certainly one of her finest, a seemingly simple beginning which gets more intriguing as one reads and has the most marvellous ending! To say more would spoil it for others, all I can do is urge thriller readers, like me, to read it for themselves, they won't be disappointed!!!
