Evidence-based - not a recipe book
This book was just what I was looking for. I didn't want recipes or how to make the perfect puree - I wanted to know how I can encourage baby to become an independent eater, and give her all the nutrients she needs when she needs them. There are chapters which are short, to the point, evidence based: e.g. how and when to introduce different textures; how to balance the meal (protein/fruit or veg/carbs); how to encourage baby to feed herself, and when to tell she is ready for the next stage. Also a chapter on the motor development and when you can start to progress to a different portion size safely. Before I had this book I had started to puree everything and exhaust myself by buying endless pots, putting this in the freezer, buying pouches - but I feel like I've been set free!I have been using the book for about two weeks and this morning baby tried a bit of my boiled egg while we happily ate breakfast together (she's just six months). She is already able to pick up bits of food and feed herself. This book has just given me the practical tools to feed my baby and managed to free up my time because now when I eat, she eats and I have actually stopped having worry about whether I have puree in the fridge - and of course it's one less thing to stress about!Highly, highly recommend this book.Be warned: this is NOT a recipe book - if that's what you're looking for I would recommend the traditional Annabel Karmel book (which I also have).

its okay
I wanted more feeding plans, schedules etc as that's what attracted me to buy the book when I saw a picture of the page on the preview. However it is just those pages. the information regarding size and what foods is good but can easily be found online. Bit disappointed

Fancy pictures without real substance
This book provides a very limited view of baby food and nutrition. The very few research presented in here is cherry picking evidence to make you think that baby food is only about size and cuts. Absolute disregard to the babies ' nutrition needs, nurturing babies digestion system and supporting brain and body development. In summary, fancy pictures of how you should cut food, which information already accessible on Solid Start web site.

Great information for baby led weaning
So far I love this book, I like the fact its not recipes but visuals of all the foods a baby can have. lots of nutritional and allergy information. We start weaning in a month and I already feel more confident with BLW thanks to the information on this book.

If you are getting one BLW book this should be the one!
Love this book. It’s very easy to read, have the information you need to know but without to much Bla Bla Bla. It has real size pictures of the food portions. Great advise on health and safety. Does not include recipes bits I’m happy with that!
