Mixed Bag for an Ageing Geek
There is no doubt that when I was in school, I was a geek. As the years have gone by since the glory days of my geekdom, however, I have been feeling that I have lost some of my geek credentials. So, when I came across this title, I thought I'd check it out and see how I stack up. As it turns out, I'm a bit of a mixed bag. Or, rather, I am or this book is.Some of this stuff absolutely spoke to me: the "proof" that 2 = 1 (which I "teach" in my math classes), the 10 geekiest writers (of whom I've read nine), the quotable Kung Fu (the time I've spent with that young grasshopper), the basics of golden age geek britcom (of which I've seen it all, over and over), to name a few examples. On the other hand, though I could appreciate the bulk of it at some level, there was a lot that I felt pushed geekdom to the extreme (semaphore, really?) or stepped outside what I would consider pure geekdom (thanksgiving dinner in 30 minutes or less?).Still, in the end, this is a generally fun, easy to read in bits and pieces, peek inside the geek's brain. A nice diversion for ageing geeks and the people who love them.

A Must-Have for Every Geek
Garth Sundem has done it again--he's written a witty, intelligent, and fun book that will get readers thinking. Here are just a handful of some of the delightful finds you'll get to peruse in this new book: Five Thought Experiments You Can Do Without Getting Out of Bed, World Leaders Who Also Happen to Be Hot, Spam Haiku, Futurama Quotes, and How to Ask Where the Bathroom is in Twelve Different Languages. There is a lot of variety in this book, which is great for geeks who get bored easily. There are also a ton of puzzles in this book, so for all of you logic puzzle fans--this book is for you. There is definitely something in it for every kind of geek, male or female, age 18 to grandparent. Sundem clearly has a gift for making people laugh while also plugging in real facts (that won't put you to sleep!). If Stephen Colbert, Alton Brown, Bill Nye, Matt Groening, and Steven Levitt all wrote one book together, this is what you'd get.

The Geek's Guide To World Domination (Sweet)
The book is filled with useless facts that are interesting and obscure. Most of the things presented in this book are factoids that the normal person would never give a second thought. However, the geek in all of us is pulled into this book with a curious interest likened to viewing a horrible bloody crash. Not to say this book is a horrible plane crash with body parts scattered about, quite the opposite. It is interesting and quite obscure. I loved the read and pulled a lot of great information from the book that I frequently use to make myself, at the very least, sound smarter than anyone else at the office for that time. All and all it is a very well put together book with funny anecdotes that accommodate some very interesting facts. I recommend this book for a quick read that will interest the reader immediately. But, take notes as there may be a test later.

I expected more...
I have to be honest, when I read the product details and saw that I caould make a laser, for example, I assumed (I know, that's what i get for assuming) there would be a detailed plan to hit the local Radio Shack and build a death ray. No such thing. It's like a book claiming to tell you how to build a nuclear bomb and then starting off with "get some plutonium...". It's a fun read, but I would definitely get it in paperback versus on the Kindle. The formatting is off on the Kindle, and it's not easy to follow some things. Plus, the paperback could easily sit in the loo as most chapters are just long enough to... (you can figure it out). Not bad, but I kind of expected more.

Geeks Guide - Not for the ordinary.
This is a fine collection of brain-streching workouts to keep you thought processes active and well tuned. With the simple reference to Schodinger's Cat - I do not recommend this book to the ordinary reader. If however you find yourself wanting to know why and how on 314.15 levels of thinking.. then by all means, dig in, you'll find yourself digesting the book in fragments, and reordering your thoughts around what you've read. Like Schrodinger's Cat, this book's value can only be proofed by the individual... Can AI ever really exsist or is it a doctrine of faith rather than science? Be afraid beautiful people, be very afraid.

YES YES YES! BUY THIS BOOK!
Do you want to know how to let your geek flag fly? Do you want your geek voice to be heard? Well then purchase this book and may the Schwartz be with you! This book contains many funny bits and keeps me entertained from beginning to end. People stop me while I am reading on the street and ask me how to conquer the world and now I can tell them after reading this glorious book.

Looks Entertaining
I ordered this as a gift for my daughter, but I'm sure I'll enjoy reading it just as much. I'm rating it a 4 because neither she nor I have read it yet, but as far as packaging, delivery and condition go, it is in all ways as promised; no more, no less. Thank you, Amazon

Not bad at alll
This book is very good. :) Although, I do have to say, it is not as good as the "Brain Candy" book, I think these kinds of books are better to get as a hard copy rather than kindle copy, because then its easier to keep track and follow whats going on. I would definitely recommend it though

Addictive reading for any geek.
I bought this for my partner but I am addicted to it myself. Even just reading the chapter headings is addictive. Lightweight book with excellent info in it. All black and white so don't expect a hard cover with colour.

Very amsuing and thought provoking. I don't read many books all the way through (although this isn't War and Peace in terms of length by ANY standard) but felt that this was interesting enough to warrant an all-night binge. Absolutely worth being knackered the next day

Really good book!
I bought this for myself and two friends on different occasions and it's a great cheap present. It's full of random facts and tricks etc meaning its great for trivial people or just for a joke present. The title is great as a joke to your 'geek' friends and brings up a laugh every time. There's so much in this book that will keep you reading it for hours as virtually everything in the book will most likely interest you!:)
