Water filters into your mouth, not into bottle
I purchased this to filter water for drinking and making tea in my electric kettle during travel for work. For drinking purposes, the water is good, but keep in mind you are only getting about 500mls - it’s not a lot of water, similar to what you get with a regular sized bottle of water. The straw does require some strong sucking in order to work. Think of a pretty think milkshake. Not at all like sucking water through a straw. For traveling and keeping up your large fluid intake, there may be better options available. For backpacking, it could work, but again, 500mls at a time isn’t a lot, if you wanted to add a powder or something to the water you would have to remove the filter (and it may not work - not sure). But you wouldn’t be able to make your coffee or camp meal with the water. To do this, you would have to invert the bottle and repeatedly shake the water out (which you probably wouldn’t want to do this for ten minutes when you are already exhausted and hungry from a hike). For backpacking, unless you are going ultra ultra light and time is not an issue for you, a traditional water filter like a Katadyn is probably more practical. For using with my kettle during travel, again, I have to stand there and shake the water through the filter and straw and into the kettle - it’s not practical for my needs. I probably could have researched it a bit more before buying - the water filters into your mouth, not into the bottle. You are however keeping single use plastic bottles out of the landfill, so that is a good thing. The straw mechanism does leak. I keep this in the side pouch of my backpack, which I often toss onto the hotel bed when I get in - this has caused some disappointing surprises. So just be mindful of the leak potential.

Perfect for any trip or hike
Purchased this for a Caribbean cruise worrying that at some of the port stops I might need to clean the water before drinking it. It was perfect. I didn’t worry about which water fountain I filled it from, it always had the same fresh, clean taste. Used it daily throughout the trip. Two things to note: - one problem was how hot it would get at the beach. Always had to make sure I filled it with lots of ice due to the lack of insulation. - second issue was the pressurization on the flight. I had read that you needed to leave the lid unscrewed a bit to ensure it didn’t leak and I had forgotten. When I went to take a sip on the flight, I opened the spout and water started shooting out of the spout. Luckily my backpack was waterproof and my clothes dried before landing. On the flight home I made sure I unscrewed the lid a bit and didn’t have any issues

Feels like an engineering marvel!
Are you looking for something that can really filter water? Maybe you just saw the trend with vodka and want to see the news. Either way this is certainly a great purchase if you're looking for a way to clean the water you're consuming. I should mention that the fact that it needs to be wetted before usage with clean water is a little frustrating from a hiking perspective, but its easy to get around that and the tool is second to none! Overall, a fantastic purchase for ensuring clean, potable water, albeit with a minor initial inconvenience that's easily surmountable.

Did the job but it leaks
I used this water bottle during my trip to Bali. I did not put tap water in the bottle. I only put filtered water in the bottle, and I did not have any stomach problems (until the last night but I am 99% sure it was the food I ate). However, my husband did not use this bottle and just drank the filtered water straight from his nalgene and had mild to moderate stomach problems almost our whole trip. Pros: Helps filter water, although I would not use it on tap water because it may not remove viruses from the water. Easy to drink from Easy to fill Clip that makes it convenient to clip to a bag. Eco friendly compared to buying bottled water. Cons It doesn't filter viruses so I did not trust it with all water Leaks really bad. It leaks from the mouthpiece sometimes, but I couldn't figure out why or how to predict when that would happen. I think when you invert the bottle while it's closed and then open it, the pressure inside the bottle makes water come out of the mouth piece. If I was careful to keep it upright, even when it was closed, it didn't seem to leak. Mouthpiece is exposed, which did not feel hygienic. Does not hold much water. Overall I was happy with this product, but I would have been much happier if it didn't leak and the mouthpiece was more protected. My husband was regretful that he didn't buy one before our trip and started using mine towards the end of our trip and noticed his stomach problems improved.

Traveling abroad
As an avid traveler and outdoor enthusiast, access to clean and safe drinking water is a top priority. The LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle has become an indispensable part of my gear, ensuring that I stay hydrated without worrying about the quality of the water I consume. This innovative water filter bottle has exceeded my expectations and has become an essential companion on all my adventures. First and foremost, the LifeStraw Go combines the convenience of a reusable water bottle with the power of a highly effective water filtration system. The integrated LifeStraw filter technology is designed to remove bacteria, parasites, and microplastics, making it capable of transforming contaminated water from rivers, lakes, and streams into safe, drinkable water. During my travels to remote locations and on backcountry hikes, this feature has been an absolute game-changer. The filter's ease of use is another standout feature. Simply fill the bottle from any freshwater source, screw on the cap with the attached filter, and sip through the mouthpiece. There's no need for batteries, pumping, or prolonged waiting for purification to take place. It offers instant peace of mind, knowing that I'm drinking clean water regardless of the source. The LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle is built with durability in mind. Its BPA-free Tritan plastic construction ensures that it can withstand the rigors of outdoor adventures, resisting impacts and scratches while remaining lightweight. I've accidentally dropped it a few times, but it has proven to be resilient and leak-proof, saving me from the anxiety of potential water bottle disasters. Moreover, the bottle's 650ml capacity strikes the perfect balance between portability and usability. It fits comfortably in most backpack side pockets, and its sleek design makes it easy to grip. The addition of a handy carabiner loop on the cap allows for convenient attachment to my backpack or belt, ensuring I always have water within reach. Another aspect I appreciate is the filter's longevity. The LifeStraw filter can effectively purify up to 1,000 liters of water before needing replacement. For a solo traveler like me, this translates to several months or even years of worry-free hydration, depending on usage. Furthermore, the company's commitment to sustainability is commendable. The LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle reduces single-use plastic waste, as I no longer need to purchase bottled water during my journeys. This not only saves money but also helps reduce my environmental impact. In conclusion, the LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle is an essential piece of gear for anyone who loves to explore the great outdoors or travels to regions with questionable water sources. Its reliable filtration system, durability, and portability make it an indispensable companion for hiking, camping, backpacking, and travel adventures. With the LifeStraw Go by your side, you can confidently stay hydrated and quench your thirst wherever your adventures take you. I wholeheartedly recommend this water filter bottle to all outdoor enthusiasts looking for a reliable and eco-friendly solution for clean drinking water on the go.

Great for the trail or emergency prep
Perfect solution for backpacking or emergency prep. Well designed & well built. It works. Comes with a clip so it won't fall out of your pack unnoticed 2 miles back on the trail. Easy to clean. Bought 4, none of them leak. It's not like drinking from an ordinary straw, some suction is required to get the water moving, but not so much as to complain about as some reviewers have done (read the instructions and keep your filter clean, so problems don't arise!) Convenient replaceable charcoal filter capsules. Would be nice to have a 1 liter bottle size option (to match up with water treatment tablets proportions., most of which are sized for one or two liters of water.) Pricey, but fair value considering the convenience.

Hard to suck but overall great
The bottle itself is very durable and strong, and it has yet to garner a scratch even though I’ve dropped it a million times on cement already. I can’t tell exactly what his bottles made of, but I’d venture to say that it’s the opposite of the material Apple uses to make their phones with. 5/5 durability It comes with a nice handy keychain that lets me attach it to my backpack and keep it with me without having to carry it which is really helpful. 5/5 convenience I haven’t tried the straw on any “unsafe” water yet, but I did try it with my fossit water that normally tastes like drainage from the hot tub of the cast of pawn stars and amazingly enough the straw made it taste like normal water again. 6/5 water filtration The only issue I would have with this product is how hard it is to suck the water out of the bottle. Like I understand there’s a filter in there so it’s going to be harder than usual, but you really have to suck like you’re a ten buck hooker two months behind on rent. 4/5 suckability. The price is also a bit high compared to other water bottles, but I don’t regret the decision at all, except for the fact that I’m now two months behind on rent. 4/5 price

Took one of these from Mexico to Panama on my bicycle!
This is my main bicycle water bottle now. I have a handlebar mounted feed bag that is a little oversized to accommodate this bottle and I can open this and drink out of it easier than I can reach under me for a genuine bicycle water bottle. I took a year and rode form the US to Panama and used one of these exclusively. They changed their filter, and I couldn't find where to buy a new one, so I got a new one. here in the US I use it just without the filter but keep my filter for when I need it. I haven't tried the carbon yet, probably won't use it unless the water tastes really horrible as it doesn't last nearly as long as the filter does. If you ride bikes it is a great water bottle IF you purchase a handlebar mounted feedbag, it is a little too large to fit in a standard water bottle cage. I keep a bottle of unfiltered water in my cages, with a big 'UNFILTERED' written on it on my bike tours, as this is just a lot easier to drink from. I just never got used to reaching under me to get my water and this is easier as I don't need to pre-filter my water before I drink it, it filters as I drink.
