Good practical guide
This is the book I read after mindfulness in plain English. I thought it was good practical guide and it spoke clearly about access concentration and the Jhanas. It seemed very redundant and repetitive at times and that is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. All books talk about meditation itself and that you naturally progress into Jhanas but very few gives any practical advice about how to accentuate the progression if possible.I would have liked to hear the authors experience as he crossed those landmarks in his progression rather than pure theoretical statistic of different people experiences.

My review for Mindfulness in plain english & Beyond mindfulness
Was looking for a book that explain meditation more on a pratical side. Since I'm note familiar with the buddhism terms/vocabulary, I have found this book delivering exactly what the title implies. For more depth, I found Beyond Mindfulness by the same author to be more of what I was looking for. He take the time to explain what you might experience when you access concentration, access jhana, etc. I'm experiencing different things while meditating these days and was wondering if I was in jhana or not. Now I understand that it is access concentration, the stage just before entering jhana.Of the two, Beyond mindfulness was more in depth and if you're looking for something that explains what to expect and to notice the signs, this one is more for you as I found for me =)

Brilliant “how to” for all the Jhanas.
I’ve read many books on Buddhism, Vipassana, and the Jhanas. This is one that I will surely read many many times, as I work on my own Jhana progress. This is not just abstract concepts, but an easy to follow recipe for each Jhana.

Truly an advanced Mindfulness Meditation book meant for practices
It is fascinating to explore the depths of possibilities in Mindfulness by practicing or making a sincere attempt to practice as guided in this book. There are both practical benefits that you can gain to improve your understanding and expanding the scope of what is possible in you and by you.

Read Bhante Henepola Gunaratana's book "Mindfulness in Plain English" first ...
Read Bhante Henepola Gunaratana's book "Mindfulness in Plain English" first, before you read "Beyond Mindfulness in Plain English."Both books are recognized classics on mindfulness, meditation and the Buddha Dhamma.

Good material but in my opinion poorly presented
I am struggling with this mainly due to poor writing and much repetition. I will persevere as I have liked his earlier books but there isn't the same clarity of thought here.
