All Through the Night: The People Who Work While We Sleep

Great for teaching about careers
I used this to discuss different careers with a Reception class. Great discussion points, including realising the amount of work that goes on when we’re all (mostly) asleep.

Find out about all the jobs people do while we sleep!
This is a very useful story helping children to understand the important jobs that take place during the night time.'The sky is getting dark. In a big city some people are getting ready for bed' In this book you meet the nurses, cleaners, delivery workers, doctors, police officers and many more that help keep the city running, ready for the next day to come.My children found this very intriguing and hadn't considered that some people have to work at night time! They enjoyed exploring the lovely detailed illustrations to find out more about what is involved in each night time occupation! My son loved the page where the workers were clearing the train track. My daughter enjoyed talking about the role of a journalist! This is definitely a book that leads to lots of interesting discussions. This book would have been a great addition to our 'People Who Help Us' topic that I taught in Early Years and Key Stage One. It would be a great book to include in a school library.
