Great for music, bad for phone calls
These are my new favorite headphones. They paired easily and had some charge so I could check them out immediately. The headphones came with a USB charging cable and a cable for using them as wired headphones.Over Bluetooth they sound very good. Except for the power on and pairing beeps there was no noise from the electronics at all. Other headphones I’ve used have a hum or buzz from what I assume is the Bluetooth electronics which is especially annoying when listening to jazz or classical. Not these. These Pioneers are dead silent. They aren’t bass heavy or too bright, but what quickly caught my attention was the excellent stereo separation. In my limited middle of the road headphone experience, the stereo separation is the best I’ve ever heard. They don’t have noise canceling technology but block sound coming in or going out reasonably well. These headphones are quite comfortable with very spacious cups and soft vinyl covered pads. They don’t clamp down tightly on my head and fall out of position when I bend over to load the dishwasher. I like the fact that they don’t fold up because hinges break.I thought the buttons were for volume but they advance the track forward and back instead. They don’t have a volume control. They aren’t easy to adjust while they are on your head. When I try it, sometimes I hit a button and my listening is interrupted. When I called someone to test the phone functionality, she said the sound was very bad and pretty much unusable. I’m going to try again after playing with my phone settings and will update this review as needed.February 2025 update: After 6 years of ownership, the ear cups and padded headband are deteriorating. I wonder if some kind of leather/vinyl protection chemical would have prevented this. Also, the insulation on one of the wires that comes out of the ear piece has deteriorated. I wrapped it in electrical tape to protect it. The wires still seem to be connected because they still function properly.I notice the price has gone up and is now about 3 times what I paid. For $350 one could get a much better set. These are $100-150 headphones.4.5 stars

Solid pair of headphones at a great price
I do most of my listening through Sennheiser HD450s, but wanted something more portable to use when away from my desk at home. After spending hours reading reviews for models from Sennheiser, Pioneer, Audio-Technica and V-Moda, I ended up settling on these Bluetooth headphones from Pioneer, which seemed to strike a good balance between sound quality, price and other features. Now that I've had them for several days, I can say that I feel highly satisfied with the purchase. The sound profile, particularly in the lower frequencies, was at first somewhat underwhelming. Therefore I modified my player's EQ to slightly boost the lower frequencies and slightly attenuate some mid and higher frequencies. Thanks to that EQ "rebalancing," and probably also to my ears simply growing more accustomed to the headphones' sound, my initial impression has changed to something more favorable. I find that clarity is strong, the soundstage is surprisingly wide (with good separation of instruments), and vocals are crisp. They are very comfortable to wear and look luxurious. In addition, pairing with Bluetooth input is always fast. Recommended! 4.5 stars, rounded up to 5.

So far so good!
Impressed with the good-looking tan leather which seems to be on all the surfaces that touch you. Very soft and supple, fits my large ears comfortably and without fatigue but I haven’t used it in a marathon listening session yet although I will update this if my experience changes. Buttons work great, aluminum feels thin yet also very sturdy. Interesting. These don’t fold flat so if that’s something you must have then look elsewhere. Perhaps best for home use and not for travel. Haven’t tried to use it for phone calls but not expecting much due to the many consistently negative comments here about that. Will update with my findings. Took > 3 hours for my first charge, and I only returned to it 6 hours later so I’m unsure how long it actually took. First time I paired it with my iPhone 10, it paired but no sound from headphones. Had roomie try with his phone and it worked fine. Unpaired and re-paired with my phone and good since then. I’ll update all of this after I’ve spent much more time with them. So far, I would certainly buy it again.
