Very Useful Product
We bought this product from Amazon, and so far we are very pleased with it. The product does what it is supposed to do. I would recommend it HIGHLY over a regular food processor or blender, for:(1) It is much smaller and compact, making it easier to get started and store.(2) It is SO MUCH easier to clean than a food processor or blender. The fact that the motor is on top and shielded by a tight fitting lid means it stays very clean. No food gets to it. The other parts are easy to clean.(3) The Food Mill can be operated easily using only one hand, which might come handy sometime.(4) The blended puree is smooth, more so than a regular blender or food processor, especially if you have only a small amount of food.Something to pay attention to:(a) The blade is VERY SHARP --- sharp like a scalpel. Do not touch it with your hand. I cut myself without even noticing it at first. Use a brush to clean the blade.(b) Be careful when you make carrot puree. It will discolor the white plastic, and it is almost impossible to remove the color.

Very quik and easy to clean, a must have for a busy mom...
I bought this shortly after my little girl was born 2 years ago.I wanted to start her on home made food and not food with preservatives. What I loved about this is how easy is to clean the procesor(specialy the blade). With a regular blender it's a chalenge to clean properly the blade and you have to unscrew the hole thing to get to the blade. It's small and you can only make small quantities of food at a time, but its perfect for your baby's first foods(banana's, carrots, sweet potatoes, sweet peas,...etc, and an easy and quick clean comes very handy when you have to clean it 3 to 4 times/day.It takes a while to get use to it. I noticed someone else had complained about the cap being stuck, you just have to figure out how it works and not put pressure when you try to open. I wish they would design that different, but once you get the feeling of it you will have no problem. I use mine for more than a year every day 3-4 times/day, and after a year the motor stop working. I bought another one after that. I still highly recomend it, just because for that one year it work great and I got my money worth for it.If you are a busy mom, and you need something easy to clean and use, then buy it with confidence, you will love it. I will also recomend " Jack La Lanne" power juicer for an easy to clean and use juicer.

Does a great job of doing what it's supposed to do
I am buying the Kidco Babysteps Electric Food Mill for the 3rd time because it is so great (the first I lost while traveling and the second I somewhat melted). I have used it for each one of my baby's first foods prep. I have used it to puree fruits, vegetables, and meats for my babies.Pros:*Quick to process food*Easy to use*Easy to clean*affordableCons:*the plastic bowl part becomes very maleable when heated (I boiled it once to sanitize it and it went from being round to having a flat side where it lay against the pot I boiled it in)*not so easy to process meat (no matter how much water I added, I could never get a smooth puree when I used this mill for chicken - always came out as a thick paste).I personally don't need a food processing "system." I use regular kitchen products to steam/bake the foods that I use this mill to process (you can cut any fruit vegetable in half, put it in a pan with some water and cook it in an oven or mini convection oven - usually takes 15 minutes or less. I don't recommend a microwave steamer because microwaves kill most of the nutrients in the food - hence why you are not supposed to microwave breast milk). The reason I bought a baby food processor instead of just using my regular food processor is to make sure that no unwanted ingredients/particles ended up in my baby purees (like peach puree with garlic after taste). Given that my children have food allergies I am even more sensitive to separate food prep now. This electric mill is great because it has sharp blades that make quickly puree the food (consistency depends on how much water you add and how long you press the button for). It is really easy to rinse out, and it is much cheaper than other baby food making devices currently on the market.

Money well spent. :D
I love this food mill. Small and mighty is the way to go. This doesn't take up much space on the counter. I am able to steam and puree anything for my six month old son. This food mill is a god send to any parent on a budget. The mill will pay for itself in no time. One large carrot steamed and pureed produced 8ozOne medium sweet potato gave me 16ozThree medium bananas pureed came out to be 16ozOver all, it is much cheaper to make your own purees rather than spend on premade jared foods. I did that with my first child and ended up spending well over 150 each month just to feed my child. I can spend a fraction of that now thanks to this food mill. This mill is a bit on the loud side but that isn't any thing for me to complain about, my old blender is just as loud if not louder. This mill is also 110V so it can only be used with American/Canadian outlets. My only con is the way the mill opens. There is a place where the top locks in with the cup. You have to squeeze that in in order to take the top off. Found that out the hard way after spending far too much time trying to open it the normal way of turning the locking mechanism. I highly recommend this to any new parents and as a option for a baby shower gift.

Pieces falling apart and it is dangerous!
In the begining I liked it. It is ease to use and clean. However, the pieces inside are easy to fall apart and break. Once my 1 year old baby almost ate the broken placstic and metal pieces with the puree that I made with the machine. It is really dangerous. I didn't know the inside plastic and metal pieces are falling apartment when I used the machne. I pulled them to my baby's bowl from the machine after the use. Luckily I used to have the spoon to swirl the puree and make sure no big pieces left from the machine before I feed her. Then I found a big broken plastic and metal stick inside the puree. I'd recommend anyone who had this machine and please do the same thing like I did before you feed the baby. Otherwise, it is really dangerous!
