Great rack, fit the bill perfectly
I am very happy with this Rack. We have an office that does not have a dedicated data room, and not a lot of equipment but enough that we want it too look good and be functional as well as secure. This rack fit the bill just fine. It arrived in 5 boxes. The instructions were ok, but they were for a 42u version of this rack. The instructions found here: http://www.norcotek.com/download/Assembly%20Instructions%20C-24U.pdf are for the 24u version of the rack and between the two sets of instructions it was reasonably easy to put the rack together. It comes with a full set of nuts and bolts, so you don't need to order an extra kit. I appreciated all of the cut outs in the roof and floor of the rack as we will be top feeding about 50 cat 6 cables to be connected to a patch panel. The front and back mounting brackets are adjustable in that they can be mounted closer to the doors or deeper inside the cabinet. I had it delivered to one of my offices as I didn't want it sitting on my doorstep all day long. The shipper arrived with a truck that had a lift. He wheeled the pallet over to my truck and we both lifted the 5 boxes (bound together) into my truck in about 2 seconds and he was on his way.I appreciate the design of this rack. The mounting brackets are labeled with all 24u's in the front and back which makes mounting shelves and servers that require front and back mounting much quicker instead of counting the square holes to line up the front and back mounts. The front and back doors as well as the side panels all have keys. I may need to have the doors swing open on the opposite side and it appears to me as long as I don't mind the handle being upside down I will be able to do this. The only criticism I have of this rack is that it does not come with a nut tool which is a simple piece of metal with a tongue and a 90 degree tab that makes installing the nuts simple. All the racks I used to buy in my other jobs came with those tools and I didn't save one from years ago. Luckily one of my IT friends had an extra and gave it to me. This tool costs .01 in metal and should be included. Makes assembly so much quick and easier. The only improvement I would make on the rack would be an option to have split front and back doors so that in tight spaces you only need half of the open and close distance. If your looking for a small rack for a branch office or your own office to keep you IT equipment in I highly recommend this rack!
