Rick Steves Paris (Travel Guide) Review: Classic Rick Steves, updated for 2022 - A Rick Steves guidebook is like having a local guide in your pocket. A few years ago, my wife took his Istanbul book with her to, you guessed it, Istanbul. She enjoyed following his recommendations so much that she stayed there an extra week. The Paris book is no different. It's organized in neighborhoods, or as he calls them, walks. As you follow along, key points are described in details that are at once colorful and useful. At the front, the individual walks are grouped to provide a five to seven-day complete Paris experience. We'll be there for nine days and expect the information will be perfect for our trip. The back of the book has some small color maps and one large foldout map. That said, we're not complete Luddites and expect to navigate with Google maps. However, it's nice to have all the background information in printed form and suitable for bookmarks, post-it notes, and highlighters. I recommend getting this well in advance of your trip. Use it to figure out where you want to go and identify what tickets you need to buy in advance. Then, fill the pages with notes. Highlight key points. And to that, the pages are, as they say, "bible thin." I recommend gel highlighters, for example Sharpie 1803277 Gel Highlighters because they leave vivid highlighting without soaking through even thing pages. Review: Very helpful travel guide - The significant other and I did a month-long house swap in Paris. If you are familiar with Rick Steves, his travel guides are top notch. We always use his neighborhood walks to ensure we see exactly the sights of the areas. This was very critical for us as we did not want to miss hidden gems throughout the City of Lights. We followed his step-by-step walks up near Sacre Couer, Le Marais, Latin Quarter, etc. This is the way to see Paris--using Rick Steves' Paris guidebook! Highly recommend. C'est merveilleux.

Very helpful!
Very helpful! We were hit by the pick pocket gangs on the train. As we enter they began shoving us, they came from everywhere. I was prepared, from reading the book. I carried my belongings inside my long length coat. And still it was under another layer of clothes. My pockets was empty. They stole my traveling companion wallet. She had her purse on the outside of her coat.

Rick Steves Makes Travel So Easy!
Several years ago my husband and I went to Italy using Rick Steves guidbook and it was a perfect trip. His recommendations and advice were all spot on. The audio tours were one of the highlights of the trip. When we started planning our trip to Paris we immediately purchased this guidebook and once again it has made planning so easy. We used a travel agent both times and still found this book to be the most helpful. He gives sample itineraries and rates the sites so you know what not to miss if you have limited time. Whenever we have friends or family trying to plan a European vacation our first tip is to buy the book!

A must buy when you need advice from someone who's been there
I bought a few Rick Steves books about 10 years ago, and found them incredibly helpful for my travels around Europe. So when I learned some friends were going to Paris for their honeymoon, this purchase for them was a no-brainer. What I truly appreciate about the Rick Steves writing and content is the way it makes you feel like you're getting advice from a friend who's already been there. Not only does it help you navigate the sights and attractions, but you also get crucial information about logistics too such as transportation, currency conversions, and when you need to book in advance. The wealth of information provided truly makes this a great tool for traveling to new destinations. Highly recommend for anyone traveling who wants to get the most out of the experience!

Fantastic book but WAY too heavy to travel with
Rick Steves creates really great and useful content and I love this book. Since I was planning on doing miles and miles of walking each day, I realized it made no sense to take this book, for that or for just planning in our room..it takes up too much of the weight limit in luggage...I'd rather bring back souvenirs. I ended up using my phone for all info anyway, like his Europe app. :)

This is really the only book if going to to Paris
The advice in this book is invaluable. He reviews everything you want to go to, and also gives you pages of practical advice of what to do from how to use the subway how to pay for this and that when to go to different places what to avoid where to eat where to stay it's just terrific. I looked at many other books before our trip, which we just finished and none of them stack up to this book.

You dont realise how perfect and accurate this book is until you get other guide books of other cities where people are lazy and don't actually go to the places they write about but copy stuff from Internet but this one is 100% pure personal effort
