It caught mouse in car
The past models similar to this the mice, could you write through the plastic but fortunately I caught my 1st miles with it within a week inside my car, next to the electronic traps, which also caught two mice I like the Owltra electronic better than victor.

Deadly !!
Deadly. I seen mice all summer jump out of a wood stack or the edge of a patio then disappear. My wife and I knew they was here but where, when and how many was unknown. I don't want to get a mess trap my dogs and kid could contact. I found these rubbed peanut butter and some chocolate candy inside the plenum and sat them all over my yard and along my homes foundation. Three months go by and I checked them occasionally and nothing. Then the temps dropped and these small mice (screws?) must have gotten more desperate. I also note that Beatles got inside and perhaps they eat crispy fat black Beatles naturally. Then the human scent would have gone away and I began to ignore them and after four months and the temperatures dropping the first snow fell 2 inches and I decided to check them all and see. Well it turns out that those mice found their way inside all 10. Some had ten and cannibalized and some just froze. Some were mummified and some were skeleton n hair. Of the 10 traps I had a confirmed kill count of 4 to 10 per trap. Many were fresh but most were decomposed. Because the bodily fluids glued them to the floor and sides of the traps interior with gloved hands I used a screw driver to pry them out and into a trash can. Then added more bait and set them back out. And it's been two weeks and no more mice. I believe I had a wave of naturally occurring wild mice that were enjoying my yard and then when the bait attracted Beatles it was too good to refuse and the temps cooling these mice went to this death camp voluntarily. They aren't smart and so it's must be they also could have been looking for a way into my warm crawlspace. I made my home with screen lower opening and no cracks. TheseMice needed in to get warm. So they were drawn to the foundation. They don't have a bladder so they pee and make trails. Once one went into the trap the others follow the urine trail and go in. Apparently mice don't talk orHave a common language to talk. They just kept going in. It must have been hell for these guys but I when my neighbor said her house was swarming in mice and she has them crawl across her pillow in her bed at night I lost all my ability to feel bad for them. In my view they exist and these traps in certain periods when these mice began to have all the variables they go in and die. These traps do all the work so I can take off and forget about it. Let the traps do the work. My kid and dogs can't be hurt by touching them and the clear plastic window on top helps before you open the lid you can see if it's got a live one inside.

Mice don't seem to care for it
I hate to give anything less than 5 stars. I gave this 3 because I ordered the clear lid and got a solid lid.As to if it catches mice...hmmm...not for me. Not sure why, I see mouse poo all around it but they won't go inside. I thought that maybe the holes are too small for the mice I have, but I don't know...it is said that if a mouse can get its head in a hole it can get its body through. So they should be able to get in it, but they aren't interested in trying I guess. I just must have picky mice. I am not leaving a 3 star rating on whether it caught a mouse or not. I am sure some people have mice that will go in. My daughter has a larger one exactly like this, given to her by me because mice would not go in it for me either. She has mice that are not so picky and she has caught several using it. So, at the end of the day, I think these traps do work, if your mice are not so picky of their restaurant choices. I just didn't get the clear top that I ordered.

Not Perfect
Not totally useless. It did catch a few mice, but it took a while. They need to be hungry enough to overcome their fear of the door mechanism, and be smart enough to figure out that they can actually get inside that way. Here's the problem: If they're smart enough to figure out how to get in, they can figure out how to get back out.Maybe I have a supermouse, but I have video showing the mouse going in - and after a minute or so of enjoying a peanut butter snack, coming back out. The little trap door thingy's aren't stuck or bent. The mouse has to try a few times, but without fail, it gets out. As someone else said, check this trap often to avoid a stinky mess. One thing I've come to realize, there's no perfect trap. Depending on the size, appetite, intelligence - all traps are fallible. I've recently started deploying an arsenal of traps of various types setup in a group. Some work better than others, but they all work at least a little. My biggest problem with the spring traps, is the mice are so small and dainty, that they don't always trip. With a variety of types, the chances of success go up significantly.

EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT/HIGHLY RECOMMEND
I raise Australian Shepherds at Fifteen Acre Farms. We can never put poison out because mice will carry it to the dogs and the dogs will ingest it or the mice will ingest poison then travel a few feet where a dog can eat them and poison the dog. These traps are exceptional in the kennel building. My dogs have complete indoor/outdoor access .... but unfortunately .... so do mice. I have 7 of these and catch mice in them nearly everyday. Sometimes when an entire family gets caught, a week or two will go by, until another family of mice takes up residence and gets caught again. This trap catches ANY size of mouse especially the baby one's too tiny to get caught in a trap or set one off. This trap catches them before they can mature and reproduce. I use no bait. They just walk right in and can't get back out. I set them where my dogs have no access to them because Australian Shepherds are highly intelligent and could possibly open the lid. When I see a mouse inside through the clear plastic lid I simply fill a 5 gallon bucket of water, pick up the trap with a pair of gloves, drop the trap in the water, wait 15 minutes, drain the water, open the lid, and empty the dead mice into the trash which goes to the dumpster daily. When the lid is open to empty the dead mice be sure to hold on to the inside pieces with both hands while emptying the mice or those pieces will fall out as well. I would give this product 10 stars if it were possible. I have tried SEVERAL different traps for rodent control and this is the best one. Safe for your other animals and children. Best of all ... no poison needed and they last A LONG TIME. You can set them ANYWHERE.
