VivaniOrganic Dark Chocolate with 85% Coco 100 g (Pack of 5)

I bought this product after doing much research for curing or at least keeping at bay "GOUT" the whole of my foot was often effected and fellow sufferers will know the pain associated with this malady. My brother suffered badly when alive but went down the medication route. I was determined to find a natural way and found the bioflavonoids in the cocoa bean helped remove Uric acid out of the body. This product works a treat, been gout free for two years now. It works because of the high level of pure cocoa contained in the bar. At least 80% is required to work. The Medical Profession think I am three sandwiches short of a picnic, but I don't care as to date it has worked for the fellow suffers I know and that to me is alll that matters. Apart from medicinal reasons it a very tasty dark chocolate.

I am slowly working my way through the un-Dutched chocolate bars on Amazon - where I can find the information. (I asked Zotter twice and still no reply, so I gave up on them.) So far I have tried Madécasse 100% (a bit too much for my palate but a nice business to swap emails with, and the taste is good for most purists) and Chocolat Madagascar 85%, which I find is a nice dial-down of the potency of a 100& bar but still polyphenol-packed which, frankly, is my priority. After this Vivani arrived I ran a taste comparison with the Chocolat Madagascar with the in-house chocolate squad. For them, there was not much in it. For me, I found this Vivani bar was more 'orangey' than the Chocolat Madagascar ... not exactly like oranges, but there is a unique taste in some chocolate and 'orangey' is the closest I can come to describing it. I am happy with the Vivani, but I think the other two tasters marginally preferred the Chocolat Madagascar ... although they would happily eat either I suspect! This bar has all the other virtues of good chocolate - smooth, a crisp snap when broken, and a nice aroma, so I am happy with it.On Dutching, here are the words straight from the manufacturer's website:"In the „Dutching Process“ (alkalization) the cocoa is treated with alkali. The cocoa butter could be separated much more easier. But colour and taste of the cocoa change as well and very important: the amount of polyphenols is reduced by this treatment. A really beautiful tasting dark chocolate. I was afraid that 85% would be too bitter but it's a very satisfying full flavour.Meaning you don't eat the whole bar at once.Good for the body and soul!Eating this chocolate lead me to try out others in the same brand and I am totally impressed. I never knew german chocolate tasted this good.Maybe the best part after the flavour is that I don't feel I have to eat a lot to be satisfied so I get my chocolate hit without feeling a need to stuff myself.I want and need to eat chocolate and prefer to know it's not full of rubbish. In fact I believe this dark kind is healthy and makes me feel good.

There's a lot of misleading information in this listing – it states the weight as 1kg in one instance, and the price breakdown of £1.29 per 100g seems to be based on this. But in fact what I received was 5 x 100g bars, so the price per 100g is really £2.48. Also in the Q&A section somebody has stated that it's 2 packs of 5 bars. It's not, it's 5 bars in total.The chocolate is delicious, the 1 star review is for the misinformation from the seller rather than a reflection of the quality of the product.

Not as great as Black's Organic 85% Dark Chocolate sold on Amazon. This one doesn't feel as rich (though cheaper than the Black's).

I'm not sure why the word 'bitter' appears on the wrapper; there's enough sugar in this to make the overall effect very bland. The texture is crisp, and there's a good aftertaste, but it tastes more like 70% bar; not as good as Tesco's own 85% Dominica bar, and not really worth the price.

I have ordered this chocolate for the past 5+ years and can certainly agree this is one of the tastiest and healthiest chocolate around. It is so much cheaper to buy from amazon than in some healthy food shops. As it is not expensive to buy here, I also share it with my friends and they all love it (and love me too). Once you have tried this, you don't want to go back to those ordinary chocolate!!

It's quite good, but I thought it lacked the depth of flavour I like and expect from an 85% dark chocolate. Perhaps I have just been spoiled by Aldi's Moser Roth 85% which is absolutely divine - rich, deep, complex, mmm..... And Aldi's is only £1.19 per pack, which consists of 5 individually wrapped bars which slip neatly into a handbag for emergencies :)) . It is good that Vivani is organic though and I'm sure many people will love it because it is very smooth. I personally prefer a stronger chocolate taste though.
