If you’re buying this to lure fish at your local lake or canal for pike or perch, it’s absolutely bulletproof. It pairs amazing with the Abu Garcia cardinal X reel in the 3000 size which is a solid budget reel. I decided to follow the trend of trying to break one of these things and I had a very very hard time. If you can’t bust it, chances are the fish can’t either. Put your money here it’s worth every penny.

Brilliant rod

Hello, I have bought the 1.8metres ugly stick 2. Light/medium model. The rod seems good but I cannot find the maximum cast weight. Or weight casting range.This is usually written on the rod but I cant see it at all. Please can someone confirm the casting weight range for this product. I dont want to cast too heavy a lure and damage it. Thanks in advance

Have an Ugly Stik boat rod already, so knew what to expect. Was not disappointed.An extremely sturdy and capable rod. Quite striking looking colour scheme too. Plenty has been written already about this virtually unbreakable rod which represents excellent value for money, so all I will say is believe it!Has a nice action and can cast my most commonly used lures a good distance. I use mine with lures typically in the 20-30 gram category, with an elderly Mitchell fixed spool loaded with 10lb mono line and have caught Bass, Mackerel and Pollack from both boat and whilst coastal rock fishing.Only criticism - it comes without a bag. For a few £’s more, this would be a worthwhile addition.Also, an observation rather than criticism - the reel seat is relatively small and some reels (the foot) may not fit.

Well made spinning rod, light, easily used for hours spinning. Rod doesn't come with a bag. Make sure you match it with a small reel as the reel holder is very narrow. I bought the Shakespeare 20FD which seems to be perfectly balanced for this rod.

Ugly stick is far from it good looking rod guys at the lakes i fish commen it, I bought the 7 foot rod, it's well balanced & light easy to fish all day, cast well I use 14lb line puts a feeder out 30/40 yards no bother, small roach even makes the tip bend, good fishing in bushes & over head trees,Only cons, would have thought it would ofcome with a bag,

This breaks down into 2 x 3ft sections and is perfect for putting in the back of the van without getting in the way. It's a great all rounder having been used in the sea for bass and on the canal for pike. It casts all sorts of lures of varying weights with minimal effort, with a well balanced reel it's a pleasure to use. I find it has great strength despite its short length yet brilliant sensitivity and with softness to play fish without putting pressure on the terminal tackle. I've had a few occasions where I've been snagged and I've ended up testing the rod strength to the extreme, almost bending double whilst dislodging and rescuing my lures. It's great fun, highly recommended.
