Can someone please tell what size bagel this item can slice or at least what is the holder size?

The bagel slicer's slicer is 7x3.5x7. This is a commercial slicer, so no telling what your bagel size may be; however, those bagels bought in a grocery store will fit fine. I have at times bought them from a bakery or at Costco. If the bagels are not frozen they will fit, but some may be a little snug.That will not effect the cutting. I bought the commercial bagel slicer because it is safer for me. There is no collector for the crumbs, but I usually put a cloth or paper under it. I always cut bagels when they are defrosted from the freezer and I have never had any problems. I bought this slicer because we have one in the hospital cafeteria and I have never noticed anyone complaining. Take care! Caritas7

Does this work on New York bagels?

We love this Bagel Biter! It works like a charm quickly and easily slicing bagels. Not sure what you mean by New York bagels - it works on all of our bagels. If a New York bagel is extra wide then the bagel might need compressed to fit in the holder. Hope this helps.

Can it cut flagels (thin bagels)?

I have never tried to slice a flagel, however, if you stuck the flagel partially onto the blade before slicing it, I'm sure that it would work. However, be away that there is about a 1 cm slit inside (horizontally where the blade is) to allow seeds, etc to fall through. So if you flagel was too skinny, it might get pushed through instead of sliced. Hope this helps! Enjoy your flagels!

Anybody figure out how to sharpen the blade?

The blade was never sharp. I threw it out as it was useless.

served two purposes. It cuts bagels very well, and annoyed the wife no end, who thought there was nothing wrong with a bread knife.

Waste of money goes blunt in days.

It started off as a really good bagel slicer, but only lasted a couple of uses the blade became very blunt very quickly. So instead of making sliced bagels it made squashed bagels. It ended up in my recycle bin 2 maybe 3 weeks after purchase. Its just another cheaply made rip off product.

Help I can’t stop eating bagels

Straight cutting!

I love this bagel cutter. My mum does not like it was much and prefers the knife. Sometimes you get a slightly one sided bagel.. other times it is a clean smooth straight half by half cut... the cut is always straight.. depends on the bread.. either way it makes no difference as this is a great machine and leaves no crumbs.. smooth cut..

It slices bagels !

I bought this a while ago and my boys laughed, but now they all use it. Does exactly as it says it will, bagel in, slicer down and voila...bagel sliced in two. Easy to clean and use. One kitchen gimicky thing that hasn't been put away in the cupboard and forgotten about. I keep it on top of the bread bin.

Good product.

I have only used this on fresh bagels or frozen ones that have been defrosted naturally. It works perfectly and I am very pleased with it.
