First, I read the instructions before I wrapped it to give to my five-year-old granddaughter for her birthday. That’s key here because my daughter is not wild about terrariums and I wanted to give her a heads up about putting it together. Seeds sprouted within a couple days and the instructions say to plant them toward the back so they’re easy to trim. It worked out perfectly, my granddaughter loved putting it together. She even ate some of the Chia sprouts. Yes they’re edible.

While I bought the terrarium for a 6 year old her 3.5 year old sister was equally interested and quite able to paint and plant. It was the first Christmas Day “project “.

Bought this for my 3 yr old. She put it together and it's growing beautifully.

I ordered this for my 8 year old daughter for xmas and she LOVES it. On Christmas day she had gone to bed that night without opening it, but she had left it on her desk in her bedroom when i tucked her in and told her to go to bed. The next morning when i went to wake her up she had this terrarium all set up, lit up, and built, sitting on her nightstand next to her bed. I couldnt believe how pretty it was, and i couldnt believe that she had been able to pull it out, follow the directions, and build it all on her own without any help. Its 2 months later, and this super pretty night light terrarium is still sitting on her nightstand next to her bed, all lit up and as beautiful as it was the day she built it. She forgets to turn out the lights on it when she goes to sleep at night, so some nights the little glow lights are left on all night until she wakes up, sees it, and turns it off. Ive been worrying lately that the lights will somehow burn out eventually, but 2 months layer they still glow as bright as they did on the first night.I would definitely recommend this product to others, my daughter loves it

This was easy to put together. The instruction book was very clear. There were only a few things I had a problem with. The figurines were very smooth and paint will not stick to smooth surfaces. I had to buff them with a green scrub pad so that the paint would stick. They were also a little hard for my niece to put together herself. A grown up would definitely need to help small fingers with this part. The last thing was the soil block. It took about 1 cup more of water then the book said to get it to all break apart. And while the shapes don't show up like the pictures advertise, I was not expecting them to so I was not upset with this. For the most part this is a very cute kit to put together. And the lights are the perfect brightness for a night light. More than a wall plug in, but less than a string of Christmas lights. I would highly recommend this kit.
