Sharpener
This is a well designed and good quality. Perfect size fits into pocket. Sharpens quickly with the carbide and hones to a razor sharp edge with the ceramic the added fire starter is a nice bonus as is the whistle. Would definitely recommend.

Great for keeping in the kitchen to sharpen your knives.
Although I do like to think of myself as a jungle craft experienced John Rambo. I bought this to sharpen my kitchen knives.I am the Rambo of the Parlour. In use it works very well. You have 2 different sharpeners. The carbide one, labelled "1" and the ceramic one, labelled "2".The carbide one is the one I use the most, it really sharpens the blade.Don't have the sharpener upright when you use it. Tilt it away from you about 20 degrees, then pull the blade straight through. You will really feel, and hear the cutting action. 1 or 2 pulls through is all it takes to tone up a knife. (if it's very blunt then you will need to repeat the process). You can then do the same on the ceramic slot, if you wish to finely hone the blade, but with general kitchen knives, I don't really find that necessary. There is an arrow on the top, telling you which way to pull the knife. In use I've found that you can hold the sharpener either way round, the cutting action is pretty much the same in both directions. Great for us left handers. You can of course also do it the other way around. Have the blade facing upwards and run the sharpener along the blade. You probably have more chance of cutting yourself doing it this way, but try them both. See which you prefer. As it is a survival tool it does have some other features.A whistle, that is very loud, although you must give it a good hard blow.Perfect for announcing dinner is ready. It also has a sparking rod for starting fires. It does arrive covered in a black coating, which you will need to remove by pulling it through the carbide slot before it will work.It does work though, you need to give it a good hard pull at an angle, but do it right and you're met with a shower of sparks. You do need to pull it through a few times, I'm guessing that the rod oxidises and you have to scrape this layer off.I'll admit, it's not that useful in the kitchen, but who knows, come the zombie apocalypse....It also has a carbide encrusted rod for sharpening serrated edges. That's actually quite useful as it's great for sharpening up a bread knife.Overall, I think this is a great buy, even if like me you only buy it for your kitchen knives. It works very well and it's nice and compact.I hope you found this review helpful.

SHARPAL knife/hook sharpener
Great portable sharpener, i have a wet stone which is quite heavy and there's a technique to using it which if I'm honest I don't have but the SHARPAL makes it easier, it's more viscous than a wet stone but it certainly works my mora campanion HD and ultafors ok4 were pretty blunt due to my attempt on the wet stone but this SHARPAL has put a very sharp edge on both they can take hairs of my arm and the ultimate 'cut through paper test',it's also put a sharp edge on my more expensive kitchen knives I was thinking of replacing but not know, im impressed but wish there was an alternative postage option other than £4.99/£5.99...as the SHARPAL cost£9.99 and I paid £4.99 postage 🤔, a third option would be nice but I do understand fuel costs have risen plus general overheads due to the war in the Ukraine, other than it's all good and would say buy with confidence it's a great little unit oh yes and it's got a loud whistle too... 👍

Fantastic bit of kit.
This is without doubt, the best budget sharpener on the market. I've sharpened every knife in the house. Some sharpeners glide over the blade, without sharpening not this bad boy, you feel it grip the blade, and after 4 pushes down the blade, the blade is very sharp. There is also a honer, and that just finishes it off. My son has a very nice axe that was blunt. It sharpened it no bother. My son lit a fire in the garden using the flint. I also sharpened my wife's secertiers which were in a bit of a state, not anymore they are now very sharp, and prune with very little effort. A great buy for the money 👍

Very good knife sharpener
We have a few knife sharpeners and this one by far is the best but also the cheapest! I would definitely recommend this for everyday knives, however would not use this on any expensive knives as it sharpens a little bit too well and takes off quite a lot of the metal. There are three different sharpeners and I tend to use the carbide one first and then the ceramic one to fine-tune the sharpening. Lastly, the carbide encrusted rod for sharpening serrated edges works well too but to be honest is a lot of hassle but I probably will end up using it for for our bread knife at some point! It works well if you tilt it away from yourself and then pull the knife blade through. You will feel and hear the sharpening action and see the metal sharpenings, hence why you should only use on everyday cheaper knives.I even took it on a recent holiday just for fun and used the whistle which is functional and loud. The sparking rod for starting fires is surprisingly easy to use and I managed to produce sparks immediately without any prior experience which was actually quite a lot of fun!Overall highly recommend this for something that has a very small footprints but extremely functional and practical at a very good price point!

Good Item..... BUT!
The sharpner does its job. It sharpened my pocket knife and my Leatherman knife blade well. However, don`t buy it if you are left handed as there is virtually nothing to hold the sharpner firmly with when you are sharpening a knife with it. If you do try holding it with your right hand while sharpening with your left hand then your fingers are too close to the blade and you will cut yourself, I did.

Just what I was looking for. A Key Ring Knife Sharpener that I can carry with me.
Just what I was looking for. A Key Ring Knife Sharpener that I can carry with me. I consider this more of a gimmick than an actual survival tool. I use it as a memento of my camping day. A bit of light-hearted fun.
