I'd recommend this or the ToneX One to any guitarists.
This is hard to beat for the quality of the amp sounds and value for money. The ToneX has been getting some really nice software/firmware updates lately that have made them even better. The updates have added some really nice new creative effects, as well as a real-time editor so that you can easily tweak amp sounds and create your own sound. The latest software updates have made it a lot more intuitive and easy to use as well, which was a complaint that people had previously. The support for the ToneX pedals seems to be very active. The pedal is constructed from metal, and the quality of the knobs and switches feels really good. Feels sturdy, and like it will last. Good size. Roughly the size of 2 regular sized guitar pedals. This and the ToneX One both have a ton of functionality. It also functions as an audio interface (limited to 44.1Khz sample rate), so you can record both the direct and processed signal into a DAW like Cubase/Logic/Studio One/Reaper etc. and then apply the ToneX plugin to the DI signal with a different amp model and create double tracked guitars or dual amp tones very easily. Great piece of guitar hardware that I highly recommend to any guitarists, young or old, experienced or not.

Gamechanger
I purchased this because I am tired of lugging heavy amps around, and paired with a lightweight FRFR speaker it sounds amazing! It's quite easy to use and with the online library of around 22,000 captures, you are guaranteed to find some patches you love. The pedal itself is solid, and the included software (Full versions of Tonex and Amplitube) makes this pedal a real bargain. I've not used any of the effects (I have Helix for that) but the amp modelling is superb and there really is something for everyone.

One of the best amp sims at any price.
I have a variety of amp sims, ranging from a quad cortex, to plugins, to this and this is one of the simplest and most reliable to use once it's set up. The software isnt the best, but it's one of those things that one it's done, it's great. The amp models sound as good as modellers that cost 5x as much. It's very flexible, it can do whatever you need amp-wise, from pedal platforms to high gain monsters. They don't sound identical, but they sound close enough in a mix. You can even use it as a drive or distortion pedal into your regular amp making it very versatile.

Great unit, with certain conditions attached.
This is a fantastic unit and the bundled software package is fantastic. Excellent value for money. *not impressed with the release of the anniversary edition, which has features etc that are only on that unit. That being i stand i still rate it as Excellent. Using the obvious comparisons with similar units, like the Line 6 HX Stomp: that unit is easier to navigate than the ToneX. That being said, I'm gonna run some tests over the course of 12 months and see where things are at. Super Positive Points: Fan-bloody-tastic amps. The choices available are very comprehensive with all the usual suspects and a few less loved ones. With this you "only" get six fx to play with, however, I feel fairly confident in saying that the peeps that'll be using this will have plenty of fx on hand!

Nice back up
Lots of variety once you can get the app to work. Nice and compact. A version with a volume pedal would be better for my use though. I still struggle to get it sounding/feeling as good as playing through a valve amp on stage. Audience probably won’t care It I still feel better with an amp where that’s realistic. I don’t find the software particularly user friendly with far too many steps for basic functions. I still feel that my Kempers sound better for my use. I’ve had all the modelers and this is a fair one with good competition for the pricier alternatives. Sturdy and pedal board friendly too.

It's not just hype, it's really very good.
It only arrived this afternoon. I've played through it for maybe an hour. Goodness! I had to drag myself away to write this review, and to put my Helix on ebay! Yeah the software is harder work that it needs to be, and the effects are basic, but the amp sounds, and the feel! I haven't enjoyed playing the guitar so much since the last time I had a real amp. For the money and the size/convenience, it's unbeatable for me, it's fantastic.

Sounds great, not easy to use
So, this sounds great, but personally I’ve really struggled with the interface. I may have to concede that I’m getting a bit older now and perhaps not finding stuff quite as easy to pick up, but when we’re seeing more touch screen interfaces and phone app control around, it makes this seem overly clunky. I’ve gravitated way more to Positive Grid for home use. That said, it’s built really well and I imagine would be the gigging choice, assuming it’s all set up in advance. Possibly a bit harsh giving it this score, with the sound being so good, but if you’re new to or not great with tech, then I’d look at something else.

100% realistic guitar rigs.
Not intuitive to use at all... in fact it's about as intuitive as a Sony digital camera menu system! (which means it makes zero sense). But once you learn of the cryptic menu & push-button system it does what it says on the tin; offering endless guitar tones with perfect cabinet impulse response modelling. My friend borrowed it a few times for bass gigs & it worked 100% for that.

No serial number card or instructions in the box
I just received my Tonex today and the box did not include the serial number card to register the pedal/ get access to the software. There were also no instructions in the box. Ikmultimedia doesn’t have a support number to call, so I’m currently waiting on a email response with no luck so far. I will give them a few more days. Update- after about four days Ikmultimedia emailed me my serial number. The Tonex pedal is very well built and the stock pre sets sound amazing. It’s weird but the Tonex pedal sounds much better than using the software on my Mac with the same headphones. I feel this pedal is a pretty great value when you consider that the amp models sound better than the Kemper, it’s an audio interface, it comes with Tonex Max and Amplitude 5 software. I use this with a boost pedal and a delay but I also ended up ordering a GP200 on sale and will put the Tonex in its effects loop for a Better effects solution with the amazing amp and cab models of the Tonex. It would have been nice if the pedal had more effects options but over all I would highly recommend because the amp models and cabs sound amazing. I probably should have removed a star for the lack of effects and missing my serial number card in the box, however it’s a great value, well built and sounds amazing so 5 stars for bringing this to market at this price point

Great Device (and support), not as flexible as Line 6 HX Stomp
I bought TONEX used from the Amazon Warehouse and off the bat the registration card was missing. Without it you cannot use the software at its full capacity which is a bummer, there are options you cannot reach through the knobs which are available physically. I guess otherwise the device would look like a mixing console, also also prone to mechanical issues. Anyways, after a really short contact with the support they provided me with a new serial number and I was good to go. Great! The software for the software (IK Multimedia Product Manager) is kind of dusty (and buggy) so accidentally I registered TONEX three times on one of my Macs which is nuts and simply should not be possible from the programmers point of view, having in mind there is a registration count limit here. For whatever reasons, only IK knows - either I'm a legitimate owner and free to use the device and software as often as I require or there is a problem and I cannot use it. As simple as that but to be fair there are other companies with even worse policies (Apogee, to name just one example, not cool, great hardware), so no big deal for now. IKM allow you to increase number of installations without any problems, which is also a legitimate request, since computers advance really fast. Just remember to unregister the software before you retire or sell the computer you used to use with it. Getting to how the TONEX sounds and this is where the pedal really shines. In my ears it's just great, though it might not be top notch but I guess its size and computing power set some limits here. Compared to my Line6 HX Stomp and in my ears it is just as good and sometimes even better, more natural and nearer to the sound in my head. It offers silky, warm and very responsive clean, roaring lead and rhythm sounds. It's really usable at least through my studio monitor box. On the other hand compared to the HX Stomp it's really hard to say which I like more. HX Stomp gives me a bunch of stompboxes and a bunch of connection options which is why I love the Swiss knife of sounds. It still sounds just excellent and is easy to embed into any kind of setup, live or at home. TONEX is not that flexible, it offers just one version of different most common effects, it rather focuses on other capabilities and I suppose that's modelling and capturing. It might be great at that but I see no necessity to do anything like that. Luckily there is also no need, there are plenty of freely available presets and sounds. I use them as a starting point to find my sounds in the pedal and it worked fine for me. Of course you can spend some money and even buy models and presets but I see no reason why, it's quite easy to design a great sound by yourself. Bottom line: If you're looking for everything, great sounds and effects, excellent flexibility and usability - for me it's rather Line 6 HX Stomp (XL). If you wish to have a great sound, maybe in your studio where you have all the plugin effects and just the core sound needs to be great - check out the TONEX. I'm switching between them back and forth all day long and still cannot say which one I like better. As of now TONEX is a bit cheaper and its price might even go further down, roundabout 200EUR is more than fair (used), having in mind some simple stomp boxes cost more. IK Multimedia really must continue to improve their software, TONEX even froze one time so I had to unplug its power supply, I never had anything like that with the HX Stomp. Also usability and flexibility of the device itself could and imho should be much better.

Got this combo for a really good deal
I got the ToneX "One" pedal, earlier this year. I was so blown away by what they could pack into the small guy, that I had to check out the ToneX Standard sized version. I know a lot of people struggle with the software interface, but I really have had no problems getting this set up as quickly as my "One" and getting presets loaded and stored. It has limits and quirks, but when you know them and learn the software, this pedal is practically ridiculous at this price point. And I mean that in a very positive way. I ran through some patches and found a Vox AC 30 tone that was amazing, then played until midnight. The icing on the cake (with the deal that they ran) was the Capture unit being bundled and $150 less than if bought separately. I have an old Soldano Hot Rod and I can't wait to capture some of my favorite tones from it and throw them into the ToneX. If you have been on the fence about this, just get it. Esp if they offer some good combo package. Amazing with an ES8 switcher, or any controller.
