Great story driven first person action RPG
Really enjoyed this game. The story is well done, with great cutscenes, acting and voice work that keep you invested. The first person magic combat is really fun. There’s a lot of powers and upgrades, and you constantly feel like you’re evolving your character and gaining power. There’s fun traversal and Metroidvania aspects with new paths unlocking as you gain abilities. Lots of puzzles to figure out, and a ton of side content in the world if you choose to engage with it. The world and lore are well done, and there’s nice diversity in the environments and mission settings. I really enjoyed the performance of the main character Jack as well, and the actors all really sell the situation and relationship between characters. There are several cutscenes that really sell the friendships and stakes as part of the story giving it a really cinematic feel. And of course the graphics and designs are great and add to the immersion. Just overall a really solid, fun, well told single player game that shouldn’t be overlooked by fans of first person shooters, cinematic story driven single player games, metroidvania’s or action games.

Hidden Gem. Deserve A Try
Great game despite little buzz (due to tons of AAA releases around time of release), advertisement for the game.Controls are very good, it’s like Bioshock gameplay but modernized and faster paced. A lot of buttons to memories/get muscle memory for. Game gives you a lot of options in quick succession without time to breath/master each new element introduced. There are also abilities similar to Overwatch seriesI like the dialogue, banter between characters. Feels very MCU/ Guardians of Galaxy: Not too campy or serious. A lot of snarky sarcastic jokes/Good banter chemistry between characters. More fluid conversation than serious/montone all the time--Story /plot: You live with an orphan family. Your city raided by heavy magic users. Best friend is shot off a cliff by one of them. You join the army and receive magic powers for revenge. As you get more powers, discover more of the lore which escalates to a world changing event--Gameplay:Game is very fast pace, it gives you a lot of options can be overwhelmingTo optimize gameplay, best to use controller with paddles, or have four finger on trigger instead of just move index finger up and downStandard magic attacks based on colors you cycle between and need to be reloaded:Blue: basic shoot.Red: shotgun close rangeGreen: long range smg. A lot of dps weaker damage than other two. Feels like life weaver primary fire overwatch 2 except it tracks enemiesThere are different color enemies who are super effective against certain magics, you it forces you to switch between them constantlyThere are abilities on cool down which includes:Lash: whip hook enemy towards you like Rodhog in OverwatchLimpet: slows down enemies, burst projectile attackDespell single target. Good for enemies that do charge attacksBlink: side step. Similar to Tracer in overwatch ability, but you get one first to startThere are abilities that require mana that needs to be charged up by defeating/dealing damage to enemies:Shatter: break enemy shieldBlast wave. 360 aoe close range attackSuper punch like doomfist charge attackThere’s an ultimate move. Colorful beam blast like (Moira in overwatch)There are health crystals you use to heal yourself. You only can hold a certain amount at a timePlatforming. Bad like in most first person shooters. Can hover after jumping: Jump and press jump button again and holdAble to dismantle equips and make upgrades by collecting different currency for different magicsThere are loot, side quests and shops to get better weapons, rings and gauntletThere is an skill tree based on 3 different color magics. Gain skill points per level upNo adaptive triggers or haptic feedback support for PS5Overall very fun game. Good story dialogue and fun fast paced gameplay.
