Great bit of kit.
Brought this to use on my iMac and it works perfectly. It sits on the bottom of the iMac stand quite nicely and matches the colour good. The cable is an adequate length and the option of using usb-a or usb-c (via adapter) is handy.Simple to operate just plug and play.Ejecting is done onscreen. Not the fastest but great for my needs (putting cd’s on iMac).

Don't buy this DVD Drive! Had to return with the DVD I used to test it inside- won't come out.
I bought this as my apple external drive is well over ten years and starting to be a bit noisy, also, having upgraded my Mac, I needed to use an adapter to connect the old external drive. I thought this looked nice- and it does look ok. The C- socket drive plugged perfectly into the port, and it seemed a seamless Plug and play affair- I put in a DVD and it started working straight away. So I thought, that's great, and I tried to eject the DVD- testing done. Well. I've had to return the Drive with my DVD inside- it won't come out. I thought maybe Apple were being clever and had somehow disabled an external peripheral, so I used the adaptor and tried on my Dell machine- which is less of a mystery. I went to device manager, checked for new drivers- but the DVD is still stock inside. It plays, and it would be great if I only ever wanted to watch the same DVD unfortunately that is not the case, so I've fade good bye to my pilates DVD and returned the drive with my pilates DVD still inside. Also- I've had to pay 11.20 to return a defective machine, and my DVD. Don't make the same mistake I made- DON'T BUY THIS DRIVE- UNLESS YOU ONLY WANT TO WATCH THE SAME DVD FOR EVER MORE.1 week later, having paid 11 euros to return the item- there is still no sign of Amazon having received the package. So i've no DVD, no Refund, and I've lost an additional 11 euros on postage to return the item.

It works perfectly in a Mac M1
This dvd rom works nicely without any error in a Mac with M1 processor in case you wonder it. I have tried some others but this is the only one I have been to use it without any problem. It is perfect. After a little time, I want to leave here an extra info about it.For me works fine when recording at x4 speed. At x8 it failed and dvd was locked inside.NOTE: THERE IS NO WAY TO REMOVE A LOCKED DVD DISC FROM INSIDE BUT UNSCREWING PHYSICALLY but in my mac I used a virtual machine (parallels), I passed it to it and from there, in windows 11, I was able to remove the disc from inside with no problems. Or just try it in a windows pc.

All works well
A good unit, does the job and is very similar to the Apple unit. Except this unit works with my laptop but the SuperDrive didn’t!!

Does what it says, perfectly
When I ditched my desktop PC in favour of a laptop it never occurred to me that I had deprived myself of a CD drive. So this was a bit of an emergency buy when I suddenly needed one.I don’t imagine I will be using it a great deal; CD ripping will probably be its primary function.Although extremely slim and lightweight, the build quality and mechanism appear to be first rate, so I’m expecting it to last for many years. The carrying case it’s provided with is as robust as it is elegant, and it’s become a permanent presence in my laptop bag.Performance is absolutely fine. It’s also future proofed in having a USB-C connector.

It works if you mess around with it.
I bought it for use with my MacBook. It does work and does to job.Not that easy to set-up, but that has as much to do with Apple and their useless movie app - DVD Player. I use it with VLC Player and it works fine once set-up.My player arrived scratched with a damaged dent on one corner - but you know how it is. The price was such that I would have lost more money replacing the unit for free, than putting up with the poor finish quality. You may buy one that is in pristine condition. Mine was new - the finish very disappointing.

The Ultimate Lesson in Buyer’s Remorse
Ah, the NOLYTH External CD Drive for Mac. I bought this little gem because I thought, "Why not revisit the golden era of physical media?" Little did I know, NOLYTH was about to teach me an unforgettable lesson in disappointment. Spoiler alert: it didn’t even work straight out of the box. And honestly, that was probably the high point of my experience with this thing. After finally convincing it to function, I thought I’d give it a spin—literally. Burned a disc, felt a momentary sense of accomplishment, and then... nothing. It refused to eject the disc. Just sitting there, smugly holding onto my data like it was trying to savor my misery. I had to actually Google "how to rescue hostage disc from NOLYTH," and trust me, none of the tips involved anything polite or simple. Spoiler: there’s a butter knife involved now.The build quality? Well, let's just say I've seen fast-food toys made with more integrity. Cheap plastic, flimsy cable, and a design that just screams "I might fall apart if you breathe too hard." The whole thing felt like it was cobbled together by someone who lost a bet. Seriously, this drive belongs in a museum dedicated to terrible ideas, right next to New Coke and the Titanic II.If you’re in the market for an external CD drive that works about as well as a screen door on a submarine, this is the one for you. Just don't say I didn't warn you when you end up with an expensive paperweight and a disc that’s trapped forever, much like your dreams of ever burning CDs again.

Fine for my needs
Ordered Friday, delivered Saturday so no complaints there. I need an optical mainly for one purpose, which is to rip CDs I have bought so I have a digital copy in my library. Since I got my (USB-C only) MacBook I have used an adapter quite successfully but it started to get a bit unreliable so a replacement was required. This drive works perfectly well for my needs - it looks good (certainly better than my previous plastic one), has an unexpected travel case with adaptor and a neat (if short) cable. It worked first time and every time since as I caught up with recent CD purchases.I would recommend firstly because it works, secondly because it looks good and finally because at the price it is hardly a massive risk. I am very pleased with it.
