Well, if you are here reading this review it's not by chance but means something. This band is for US power metal aficionados and this is a very special moment for any fan of the group.Armored Saint, the "Golden Underdogs" are back for more and a brand new CD is just available thru Amazon after 10 years since last official release "Revelation" (or 9, if you consider the double cd with both new tracks and rarities named "Nod To The Old School").Like any Armored Saint's LP, this is a grower. On a first listening just sounding more heavy rock than heavy metal, the music is sort of subtle, very groovy and intriguing. But then John Bush's singing & screaming is a reminder of all the good things from the past, all the good riffs with the printmark of Phil Sandoval & Jeff Duncan are there ...plus Joey Vera on bass and "Gonzo" on drums offering a solid base as usually (but with imagination).Buy with trust if you are a fan or if you still support good rocking music by skillful players.

I'm gonna be totally honest. I'd always heard of armored saint but I'd never given them a proper listening. The thing that prompted me was my annoyance at Anthrax and the loss of my favourite vocalist to Joey Belladonna. Unlike most Anthrax fans, I prefer the Bush era, and we've come for you all is one of my all time favourite cds; i guess the reason behind this is Bush is amazing vocals for that hard rock/metal style. It isn't full on thrash, but in your face heaviness. Anyway, several years later I had to try armored saint coz i was missing this guy! Anyway, choosing la raza as a starting point was a stroke of brilliance on my part because this cd is just outright awesome. Bush is vocally on fire, the songs, the hooks, the lyrics and musicianship is top rate. This is IMO a perfect fusion between hard rock and heavy metal. It has crunching rhythm guitar, flying solos that you can just bathe in, without ever being over the top. And another thing is the more you listen to it the better and better it becomes. I am now a proper armored saint fan, with one mission: get my backside into gear, get listening to the new cd and the back catalogue. Exciting times.

symbol of salvationと並ぶ、楽曲充実のバンド最高傑作。tr1.Loose Cannonやtr6.La Razaの一風変わったメロディーはクセになるほど美味。捨て曲無し。良曲多数。アメリカンヘヴィメタルの傑作。聴くべし！！

Re you kidding? How could any Saint fan NOT like this album? Is it Symbol of Salvation? No, but I'd say it's just as good. The first three tracks are trip-hammer blows. Get off the Fence is good, not great, but still a good, solid track. Chilled is excellent, a more thoughtful track and then we get the title track which has such a tight, in the pocket groove. Black Feet and Blues have some of the same feel to them, smooth movers with different parts to them. Great tracks both. Little Monkey burns rubber right out of the gate and Bandit Country slams in with some of that energy and an epic chorus. Most of these tracks hang with the best of the Saint catalog. Bush's voice is so strong on this, growling, rich and emotional. I will never understand why Saint fans dump on this album.

Ich weiß nicht wie ihr es seht...ich persönlich betrachte es aber mit großer Genugtuung, dass John Bush sich nicht länger mit der Rolle als ANTHRAX-Mikrofonkasper zufrieden gibt, und sein Engagement als Aushilfssänger vorerst eingestellt hat. Denn dies gibt ihm schließlich die Möglichkeit, seine legendäre Ur-Band ARMORED SAINT wieder ins Leben zurückzurufen - dazu noch fast in der ursprünglichen Bestbesetzung. Und während der aktuelle ANTHRAX-Release "Worship music" seit nunmehr einem Jahr komplett auf Eis liegt - bisher konnten Scott Ian & Co. noch keinen neuen Sänger rekrutieren - , bringen ARMORED SAINT mit "La Raza" eine CD auf den Markt, die 99% der weltweiten Konkurrenz mit einem Handschlag von der Tischkante wischt.Knapp 10 Jahre nach ihrem letzten musikalischen Lebenszeichen "Revelation" ist der brandneue 50-Minüter nämlich haargenau das, was man von dieser großartigen Band erwarten durfte: Ein mitreißendes, energisches und vor allem zeitloses Stück Rockmusik, welches von der Metal-Gemeinde auch noch in mehreren Jahren als Juwel bejubelt werden wird.Im Vergleich der direkten Vorgänger "Revelation" und "Symbols of salvation" (die blaue Mauritius unter den Power Metal-Alben!) sind die neuen 10 Songs teilweise etwas zurückhaltender, gemäßigter ausgefallen, und tendieren darum eher schon zum klassischen Hardrock. Zeitgemäße Trenderscheinungen wie Alternative, Emo oder Nu-Metal werden dabei natürlich keines Blickes gewürdigt. Darauf war bei ARMORED SAINT schon immer Verlass...diese Band lässt sich nicht verbiegen, sondern zieht knallhart und uneigennützig ihr Ding durch. Und auch wenn bei einem feinen Melodic-Rocker wie "Blues" einige Gesangslinien dezente ALICE IN CHAINS-Vibes versprühen, so klingt das ganze natürlich dennoch hundertprozentig nach ARMORED SAINT.Und überhaupt: Ihr Faible für bodenständige, authentische Songaufbauten hat sich das Quintett auch nach 10 Jahren restlos bewahrt. So handelt es sich bei Nummern wie "Little monkey" , "La Raza" oder dem heftigen Rausschmeißer "Bandit county" einfach um reinrassige Rock/Metal-Filetstücke mit höchster Hookline-Garantie, die auch nach dem 50. Hördurchlauf noch Lust auf mehr machen. Glaubt mir, ich hab's ausprobiert!Von selber Machart ist u.a. der durch coole Country/Western-Klampfen eingeläutete Ohrwurm "Black feet", wohingegen das (titelgemäß) ruhige "Chilled" als perfekter Soundtrack für nächtliche Autobahn-Spazierfahrten geradezu prädestiniert scheint. Ach ist das herrlich, wenn man mal ausnahmsweise den Großen beim Musizieren zuhören darf.Übertroffen wird der Melodie-Overload lediglich durch das fantastische Bilderbuch-Triple "Loose cannon" , "Head on" und "Left hook from right field", welches das mehrmalige Drücken der "Repeat"-Taste zur Selbstverständlichkeit werden lässt. Kein Zweifel, kaum eine andere Band hat das Rock/Metal-Genre im Jahre 2010 sooo eindrucksvoll vertreten, wie das Quintett aus Los Angeles. Lediglich das arg biedere "Get off the fence" fällt im direkten Vergleich etwas ab, bietet aber trotzdem grundsoliden Stoff.Veredelt wurde "La Raza" übrigens durch eine warmherzige, analoge Produktion (jawoll ja!), die dem Hörer den wahren Geist der 80er/90er Jahre praktisch ins eigene Wohnzimmer holt. Ein Höchstmaß an Melodieverständnis und gekonntem Heavy-Riffing ist hierbei natürlich gleich inklusive. Und da auch John Bush hier eine seiner überzeugendsten Gesangsleistungen überhaupt abliefert, ist dem gutem Mann - nach dem tragischen Tode von Ronnie James Dio - die Auszeichnung zum besten Metal-Sänger der Welt eigentlich nicht mehr zu nehmen.Fazit: ARMORED SAINT haben mit "La Raza" eines der stärksten Alben des laufenden Jahres rausgehauen, welches sich geschmackssicher zwischen Band-Klassikern wie "Symbol of salvation" , "Revelation" oder "Delirious nomad" einreihen lässt. Auf den 10 Songs präsentiert sich der US-Fünfer in bestechender Form - kein gestandener Headbanger kommt anno 2010 an dieser Scheibe vorbei. Tja, und wenn einem so viel Gutes wiederfährt, dann ist das natürlich 5 Sterne wert.

Excellente surprise que cette nouvelle galette sortie par le Saint.Ici, toutes les compositions sont bonnes et les avis mitigés de certain sur cette album semble provenir du fait que l'on soit en présence d'un album de hard rock et de heavy et soit donc moins brutal que son prédécesseur de 2000.La voix de mr bush est toujours impériale et tout les musiciens sont au niveau, le tout s'avale d'un trait pour notre plus grand plaisir. LOOSE CANNON ouvre le bal de belle manière, HEAD ON nous replonge au coeur des années 80 , LEFT HOOK ON RIGHT FIELD se fait plus brutal avec une réelle efficacité, GET ON THE FENCE et CHILLED se font plus calme et posés mais sont de belles réussites.LA RAZZA au riff puissant et agrémenté d'un passage instrumental expérimental également très réussi.BLACK FEET et un bon hard rock a l'ancienne.BLACK MONKEY et plus rapide et conventionnel.BLUES est un mid tempo réussi et BANDIT COUNTRY évolue dans un style nouveau pour le saint (pas pour les amateurs de trash!).A la première écoute, j était plus proche d'un 3,5 étoile car je m'attendais aussi a quelque chose de plus musclé.Mais au fil des écoutes je me dis que tout cela est très bon, alors pourquoi bouder mon plaisirs!Rendez vous en 2020 pour le prochain album!
