Delicious! Better in an electronic lunch box!
Great product! I like that it’s shelf stable and no freezer needed. Tip to make sauce thick and creamy use an electric lunch box like a Bear brand etc. & add contents with a bit less water( with a tsp of corn starch added to the water). I also add a bit of hot pepper paste, cooked fish or cooked ground beef or fish cake or veggies. Then cook for 30 mins. Take off lid add cheese and cook for 10 more minutes. Delicious and enough for 1-2 people .:-)

These are oddly addicting
I have to say these are oddly addicting and maybe it's just because it's something new I'd never tried before. But the flavor is great, I put just slightly extra water in mine before microwaving for more of a softer texture. Otherwise it's too chewy for me.

Tastes weird
I was super excited to try it but when I made it I noticed it smelled weird. Like old bbq sauce mixed with something else, it was strong and off putting. I brushed past that because I wanted to see if it at least tasted good…it didn’t. It was supposed to be sweet and spicy, there was barely any spice and the sweetness tasted artificial. I can’t say anything about the chewiness because I don’t have anything to compare it to, but I didn’t really like it. Super sad because I was so excited about finally trying this dish and it turn out bad.

It’s Actually Really Good
I used to eat ttdeokbokki from restaurants before finding out that sometimes the rice cakes are preserved in alcohol. As a person of Muslim faith, I had to start looking for ttdeokbokki that wasn’t doused in alcohol (I prefer zero alcohol in my food, even if there are difference of opinion on preserved food in alcohol) so I tried these. These taste more like instant tdeokbokki if you’re making it the way it’s indicated on the box. I found a way to make these tastier, similar to gourmet tteobokki. If you can find fish cakes and add other ingredients like shrimp and oysters, this tastes very good. The spice level is high (make sure you get the spicy one if you want the spice factor). I also add mozzarella cheese on top and this stuff bangs. While your stirring the sauce and rice cakes, I’d recommend during the last few minutes, cover the pan with a lid. This will allow the ttdeokbokki to absorb more water, making it 10x chewier. It’s literally the best. I will say that the rice cakes a bit smaller on average so use both packs for a meal.

Lack of texture and flavour.
Split quickly during cooking, didn't have the chewiness one would expect. The sauce was fairly weak, and had no heat/spiciness at all. Had to add both sugar and red pepper flakes just to bring the flavor up. But even still the texture was more like overcooked pasta than the expected chewy of rice cake.
