It does not deliver what it promises
My intention on buying this product was to GRILL food. But, I immediately found out that the temperature of the hot plate, even at the highest thermostat position 5, is so low that it doesn't grill the food, it just slowly, very slowly, simmers it until it's done. It takes the longest time to cook something, and after it's done, it's not grilled, it's almost like poached.I thought that something was wrong with the thermostat of my appliance, because every time the temperature of the hot plate was starting to rise, the thermostat kicked-in and cut the power. So I took it to the local service department of Severin to be checked. After they checked it, they said that it worked fine, and that the temperature of the "additional hot zone with higher temperature" was normal, at 160 degrees Celsius.Do they really think that 160 degrees is the right temperature to GRILL something? My non-stick frying pan gets a lot hotter than that, and it really grills things, it doesn't slow-cook them. This table grill couldn't even grill bacon to crispness! If this grill has really only 160 degrees Celsius to offer for 2400 W of consumption on thermostat position 5, then it's not a useful appliance, it doesn't deliver what it promises, and I am really disappointed in it.Edit, November 3rd, 2013After I wrote this review, I emailed Severin company in Germany to express my complaints. Although they didn't answer my email, the next day I received a phone call from their Greek representative in Athens, admitting that 160 degrees Celsius was not normal for this hot-plate grill, and I was offered a new appliance. So, I got the new one, and it does reach a slightly higher temperature, but unfortunately still not high enough. A few days ago, I tried grilling some medium sized fish. They came out like cooked at low temperature, not crispy and charred on the outside, like on a barbecue. If I had left them a little longer on the hot plate, trying to char the outside, then the flesh, which was already dried out by such a long time at medium temperature, would become inedible. I am sorry I can't give a better review for this appliance.
