These err great for my grandkids when doing messy artwork. They are also educational.

I am a Special Education teacher and a grandmother. One of my granddaughters are mesmerized by dinosaurs. Previously, I had ordered the world and the United State place mats. Sweet Pea #2 was thrilled when we laid out the dinosaur place mat, used dry erase markers and identified which dinosaurs were carnivore and herbivores. We proceeded to highlight the place of origin of each dinosaur by continent, country and state. She was delighted to realize how many dinosaurs were found in her home state. This entire series of place mats are engaging for all of my Sweet Peas. They range in age from eight years to 18 months. We use them at home and I use them in the classroom with immense success. These placemats are definitely an educational resource and were created by an educator.I had to giggle when some of the reviewers commented on the price of the mats. As an educator, I thought they were reasonably priced. Purchasing these same resources from an educational store or website would be at least 20% higher than what is listed on Amazon. As an educator, I require tools to broaden a child's knowledge base and school budgets only cover the bare essentials. One or two of these would be a fabulous gift for Teacher Appreciation Day.

TOT TALK PRODUCES ATTRACTIVE, EDUCATIONAL PLACEMATS. UNFORTUNEATELY, THE MAT I ORDERED WAS MAILED IN A THIN ENVELOPE WITH NO BACKING AND ARRIVED BENT AND CRACKED.VERY DISAPPOINTING......

These are nice and the kids like them; however, they really are no more than thick laminated posters. For the price, I thought they would a little more than than just laminated. One corner is bent, so there is a permanent crease. That all being said, they protect my new table, are very easy to clean and keep the kids entertained. At each meal, my 1 and 2 year old love pointing and naming everything.

I got the Periodic Table of the Elements placemat by Tot Talk.The front side is a colorful periodic table with little illustrations showing where the individual elements are commonly found or used (the reason I got this chart). However, unlike some similar illustrated periodic tables, those little illustrations are unnamed; most are obvious but some aren't. The elements are grouped by color and the groupings are clearly explained. Even though it has less information than more 'serious' periodic tables, it's much funner and easier to use.On the back side is a lesson in basic atomic structure and a quiz. Despite the large area available, the information and quiz on the back side is scant, and presented in a dull, repetitive way. And color would've been much nicer than black and grey.The lamination and paper is extra-thick (probably the thickest lamination I've ever seen), and is totally water-resistant. And it's made in the U.S.A.

Great for my two kids in elementary school. I've learned a lot, too! Quality construction.

The coloured groupings are helpful, but the mat was a bit creased upon arrival.
