Not as long as it looks
Nice solid bit of kit. Makes a decent match with my Gitso tripod and saves paying the stupid Gitso prices! However bear in mind that this is telescopic and at full extension it's only around 27cm long. The other part of it stays the other side of the tripod head. You can hang a weight off that although there's no hook. Would have preferred at least 32cm extension - never mind!

and for this I would recommend the Deyard D101 which can currently be purchased on ...
I have been using the V4 for almost 2 years now and mostly use it for photographing flowers using my Tamron 90mm Macro lens.Using the boom arm proves invaluable where accessibility is a problem for a tripod with focussing rail.I wont dwell on the technical aspects, other than to say I have had no issues here. The V4 does require the purchase of a separate mount for the camera, and for this I would recommend the Deyard D101 which can currently be purchased on Amazon for £19.99 ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NGPBR58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) - slightly more expensive than when I bought one but still a very good product.I use an EOS 7d and Tamron 90mm Macro lens most of the time, however (depending on how manly your tripod is) it will support my EOS 7d with Canon 100 - 400 L lens. My tripod is up to the job though being a Velbon D600, but as others have pointed out you, it does help to place the arm over one of the tripod legs if you can (see attached images). At full height my tripod will support this camera and lens combination regardless of whether the arm is over a leg or not.A well made, solid professional product which I am happy to recommend.

Good Quality Product
Fast delivery as expected, very well packaged in secure box. Overall very pleased with this boom arm, smooth extension via the handle, has some side play until it is locked by the clamp knob, then solid as a rock. One thing to note if you are mounting a 3/8" ball head mounting, you will need an adaptor to step up from the 1/4" on the end of the boom! There is a supplied female 3/8" or 1/4" adaptor for the pivot which attaches to the tripod itself, so choose and screw inside the bore. This is a novel solution to aid setting up a camera at ground level with a reversable centre column on your tipod, beats mounting the camera upside down every time!!!Would highly recommend, apart from the niggle of thread size on boom end.

Very pleased with it
Handy piece of kit. The only problem I found was that the 1/4" screw on the end of the boom was too long to fit the Logitech C920 webcam. After a lot of thought I scrapped the flexible tripod I had and the ball head from that screws on to the boom arm perfectly without adding too much weight. The perfect partnership. As for durability I don`t see any reason why it shouldn't last for years as it`s purely for indoor use. Two photo`s are attached.

Strong and Useful
I bought this to take overhead photographs because it allows me to place the camera at some distance from the tripod horizontally. It is strong and holds a Nikon D810 with mid-range telephoto quite easily. The arm is extended with a rotating handle and locks very firmly. It is a little heavy so adds to the weight of the kit that I carry but just what I needed for this purpose.

Macro work
This is an ideal addition to my tripod for macro work, although you will need an adjustable ball head to position your camera at the end of the boom arm.One other addition I would have liked on the boom arm would be measured markings on the retractable section. other than that, a great piece of equipment!

Just the job!!
I purchased the V4 to use for macro photography, and I have to say it works a treat! It takes the weight of my Canon 5D and 100mm macro lens with no problem at all and it is very versatile. The only slight niggle for me was the screw thread (i/4") as it limited the tripod heads you could use with out getting a 3/8th adapter. Having said that I purchased Jessops own BH-40 Ball and socket head as it came with a 3/8" bush attachment and I have to say for £20 it was a bargain. They complement each other extremely well.

OK
Good solid arm. Shame that a locking nut for the camera is not included
