RER14486 - Redcat Volcano EPX Pro - No Battery No Charger - Copper

I've been involved with the RC hobby for over 40 years. I've built and modified every RC I owned. This redcat was super easy to modify. I'm sure mods annul any type of warranty but it sure is worth it. I went fully aluminum except for chassis and gearbox covers. I've installed a 45g servo. Steel drive shafts and steel wheel hubs. Next I'll install a 3600kv brushless motor with an 80 amp esc. I'll run a 4s battery once those are installed. For now the stock brushless pushes it just fine and it's plenty fast. A wheelie bar might be a good purchase in the future as well. I'd give this truck 2 thumbs up for anyone new to the hobby and to veteran hobbiest and builders.

Unit arrived not functioning. Had to warranty the receiver. They sent a different receiver that was no longer compatible with the controller so they also sent a different controller. After installing new receiver the unit paired with the new controller and we were off running. The car broke the first day before the 1st battery wore out. The drive axle snapped at the front wheel and the wheel fell off. No impact just normal mid speed driving. $55 later in upgraded parts car still breaks every drive. I use to own a gas powered TMAX back in the day and never had breakage like this unless it was from a major 50mph impact. I'd stay away from this brand. My 14y old spends more time turning wrenches then driving it.

Truck is fast and fun, but if you're a basher, be prepared to fix something after every run. I opted for the aluminum chassis from the beginning, so I haven't had any chassis problems. However, here is what I have replaced in the last 3 weeks due to broken parts:Shock towers (replaced with aluminum, one bent after first run though), Main drive shaft, 3 dog bones, body, 2 shocks, 2 wheel hubs, all 4 wheel hex screws, battery compartment (ended up just 3d printing one and adding 2 additional supports), and front bumper.The truck is heavy, especially if you start replacing plastic parts with aluminum and running 3s LiPo. Even on a 3-6 foot jump, you get some pretty hard slams, resulting in broken parts. Steering servo is underpowered for my taste as well. I prefer quick steering as opposed to this, which turns the wheels pretty slowly. I will be replacing it with a 20-30 g servo soon.Overall, I don't mind working on it and I've built up a good stock of the parts that commonly break, so it's no big deal. Reinforce the body from the get go though, otherwise you will be replacing them every few runs.

I don’t know why all the reviews are crappy on this! This is my favorite RC car. Takes crashes better than my Traxxas rustler.I did upgrade to an aluminum chassis.

Great rc truck, very fast and fun ..durable you just need a battery and your good to go. I run a 5200mah 50c on mine and this truck is a rocket, been eyeing Redcat especially the Volcano for a long time and when they updated the truck I had to get one.. this thing makes me kinda regret buying all the cheaper brand rc's off Amazon which some I still have but if you want a good rc nothing cheaply made.. and expensive like Traxxas go with Redcat it's the next best thing if not better.. I loved the volcano so much I ordered the blackout pro.. Thanks Redcat!
