The shorter pile has more bite to it making it perfect for removing hard waxes and polish residue without the risk of marring that you associate with the cheaper budget cloth. The longer pile side can then be used for a final buff to bring out the gloss. A fantastic veristile cloth that can't be beaten on value for money
