Delivers as it says it will. Happy with purchase.
Like so many people, I have thousands of 35mm negatives in storage. I've used a well known commercial scanning service for some slides. They did a decent job but it took forever.I'm preparing a talk on a scuba dive trip and need some negs digitized to produce prints for 13 x 19 photo boards. I'm not a great underwater photographer and want to be able to post process the scans myself in Photoshop (I'm very familiar with PS) and get exactly what I feel the best can be.I just recieved the unit. I am very pleased with the build quality. Considering its a glorified ligh box it seems sturdy and well built. Something that would stand up to long time use. You use your own iPhone placed in the correct position to take a picture "scan" of a 35mm slide, 35mm negative, and various sizes of pictures or art. Holders are supplied for these items. The holder is inserted into the box and you take your shot. There is a software program you download from the App Store to take the picture and save the file to your phone. The software has adjustments for things like color balance, contrast, saturation, etc. it's very intuitive and has worked flawlessly on my iPhone 5. Some reviewers in the App Store have some issues with the software but for me it works just as it should. As I said, I'm not a great underwater photographer, but the negs I've scanned so far are very satisfactory and I feel they look as good as the standard commercial photo prints I had made years ago, except now they're in digital form.Since your iPhone is the "scanner" the better your iPhone, the better the final result. Now, the real question - do you scan all your stuff yourself or do you send it out? The "scanning" can add up, time-wise, but you have the advantage of scanning only what you want, making the ajustments to suit your personal taste, and you can do it on your schedule, not some scanning services schedule.Frankly, for the cost of the unit, I think I've made a good choice for me.If you're a professional and want super results, send out for scanning. But for the average to above average person, try this out (if you have an appropriate iPhone, of course!)I look forward to processing negs I know are good quality to see how they come out!

iPhone 4 users beware!
With all the positive reviews I thought this scanner would be a winner! What a disappointment. Primarily, I bought this item to scan 35 MM film negatives. Photo scanning was secondary since I can take photos scans with my iPhone 5.If you have an iPhone 4, I don't recommend getting this box. That is what I tested the scans with. Before using the scanner, you have to download an app called FPS or Film Photo Scanner. Just typing FPS in the app search will get you many first person shooter games.First I tried to scan negatives using my old iPhone 4. Following the instructions in the booklet, I loaded the negative into the holder and slid it into the proper loading port. With the app, I chose "negative" and the photo appeared on my phone screen. I pressed the "camera" button and a pop up screen came on instructing me to wait...................5 minutes passed then my pictured appeared. There were some options to enhance the picture quality but it did not help the images become clearer or the colors to match the original photograph. It could have been caused by using the iPhone 4 but the 5 minute wait to have the picture appear? That would take forever to scan negatives.I didn't try using my iPhone 5 yet, maybe later. It may produce a better picture or reduce the wait time to process the picture. I wanted to post this before an iPhone 4 user bought this item.

Easy to use
I have only tried scanning color slides so far and once I realized that I need to reset the brightness, color, contrast, etc for each slide back to default unless I wanted to continue with the same settings, I was happy with the results. I currently have an IPhone 4S, so a newer phone with a higher resolution may give even better results. I have compared these results with scanning some slides on my multi-function printer and the quality is about the same but it's much faster and easier with the this new scanner. I will now finally digitize all of my old slides,at least the images I want to keep, many of which are up to 35 years old. One last comment about placing slides into the holder: don' waste time pulling the holder back out if you discover a slide is upside down or backward. That's easily corrected later on your computer.

App needs work
Great light box for taking slides and negatives.Photos are just ok.App that comes with it to adjust photos locks up after 40-50 slides.I have taken the photos on my phone.Photo stream puts it on my laptop.I can adjust photo there or on Flickr where I store my albums.

Super Great.....!!!!!
I ordered this product to move old slides that go back 50 years. Having someone else do them would cost a fortune and this is a really great price for a product that does a wonderful job. I have now done about 60 of the hundreds of slides I have and am very pleased with this product and what fun I am having seeing these old pictures and reliving them again.
