Does this detect hydrogen sulfide?

you will have to call them. 1-800-553-4676. I was unable to find any info. methane, butane and propane and others* but that doesnt say H2S specifically.

Can it be used for car?

It will detect gasoline fumes but is not a carbon monoxide detector.

Will it work for r290 refrigerant?

Although I have never tried it on refrigerant. The unit is made to detect combustible gasses. As is stated in the specs.

Flat batteries

A little disappointed to find that the batteries that came with the unit were flat and wouldn’t power the unit. Once batteries were changed everything was fine.
