I like the sound of this DAC
I like the sound of this DAC. It has a warm and full sound, which is good since many DACs at this price point has that bright "digital" sound. It works well with my MacBook Pro and haven't had any issues yet. The build quality is good, but not excellent. Wish the case is a little bit "heavier", but not a big deal. This DAC is a good digital front end for my Marantz PM8005 integrated amplifier. At this price, give it a try.

It Can Save Your Digital Front End
I had pretty much stopped listening to my extensive CD & digital collection since I set up an analog front end. I had heard a DAC could improve the sound of digital and, since I have an older Denon CD/SACD player and stream with Apple TV I thought I would try it.Like most Music Hall Products there is good value. It does what it says it will do - convert your digital file to analog. It does remove some of the harshness and brightness and allows more of the detail to emerge. It produces a more convincing sound stage as well. But it's not a miracle worker. It makes good CDs better. But poorly produced CDs will stay that way.It was worth the money - I don't think I would spend too much more in search of digital nirvana. I put the extra money into a new VPI Traveler turnatble instead - no DAC needed!Dinged a star for lack of remote capability (I keep forgetting to turn it off) and for its very basic flip switches.

Love the sound, my new favorite dac
Excellent build quality. Plenty of input types. Sound has a slight colorization to it. The sound is not clear and analytical like my Topping D30 but it has a nice warm hint to it. It doesn't sound like a tube amp but it does have a little bit of colorization. Compared to my Topping D30 the DAC15.2 is more fun and the D30 is more business. The D30 is very clear, detailed and true to the recording whereas the DAC15.2 is enhanced on the warmer side a little which boosts the bass and mids and mellows out the highs. The DAC15.2 is still very detailed and extended. I now have my favorite, everday dac, the Topping is now for comparisions and testing headphones.

Spacious natural sound. but bass distortion on recordings mastered at a high level.
Spacious natural sound. Would be quite nice, but it's Achilles heel is notable bass distortion on recordings mastered at a high level.

THis is a great DAC for the money
OK. Many of these other reviews are old. THis is a great DAC for the money. Hands down at $99 you can't beat the price. The only other option at this price point is the SMSL sankrit. I am running a chromecast audio optical signal through it and I love the results I'm getting.

Beatiful But Not Reliable
I bought it from Dedicated Audio LLC to make a set with my Music Hall Amplifier 15.2. It is well builded (aluminum body) and the sound is great. But after 3 days of use taking care (with power conditioner), the unit died...simply the unit is power on and the leds are alive, but the analog outputs are mute (I made all tests according instruction manual)...sad experience or bad luck????...I live in Brazil and I don't know when I'll go back to US to exchange..so I DO NOT Recommend this DAC, unfortunately...

Gave new life to my collection
Bypassing the garbage D/A converter of my computer and sending the wireless signal directly to this little black box via a wireless router broadened the soundstage and increased the clarity of my entire digital music collection. I can't recommend this product enough. Pure magic.
