Manix 2
Can't go wrong with a spyderco manix. Out of the box razor sharp well balanced and feels good in the hand. Would recommend to anyone

What a knife!
If what you are looking for is a well made and well finished out knife with premium steel you found it. Size IMO is medium/large. (I chose the all black). Though it came sharp out of the box I went ahead and mirror finished it. They sharpen very well. The lock mechanism being ambidextrous is a nice touch. I own many of their products this is one of my very favorites. This particular knife has the reputation it does for a reason. They have a solid build and everything is even and aligned. There are a ton of customizations out there for these. I would absolutely recommend Spyderco, this one in particular.

Very nice knife
I have owned several Syperco knives, and I love them all. This one has a beautiful appearance; it folds and unfolds quickly with just the right amount of resistance, and the blade is durable.

Sleek,Maneuverable,Strong, and Elegant
OVERVIEW:I have now had this knife for a few months and I must say that I enjoy it as an every day carry knife. I have used this for a wide variety of tasks such as cutting down cardboard at work, to cutting many lengths of paracord for teaching classes. It cuts smoothly and is easily controlled due to the excellent jimping that catches your fingers better than any of my other knives. The blade is of excellent quality (what you would expect from s30v), I really like the blade's grind and profile, it has a constant taper that is quite thin but still very strong and good for cutting through thicker objects.Features:*G10 handle is excellent quality and grips nicely in the hand but slides easily out of the pocket. The pocket clip is also quite firm and does not jostle when clipped to the pocket.*Ball Bearing Lock is VERY satisfying on each open! The click it makes when it is locked is addicting and I often finding myself opening and closing it when I am bored. It is also quite a strong and reliable lock due to the coiled spring design as opposed to Benchmade's Omega clip which will fail after years of use. People have complained about this knife being too difficult to close, however I believe that these people were attempting to open it with just their thumb. You are supposed to pull from both sides of the release using your thumb and index finger.*S30V steel is among the best quality out there. Takes an edge and holds it. I quite literally shaved half of my left arm from displaying this knife when people asked about it. BTW it also comes with a razor sharp edge so it is hassle free out of the box.*Made In "Golden, Colorado U.S.A. Earth" unlike many other Spyderco knives.Major Complaints:I have no "Major" complaints at all with this knife, the only thing I can say is that I wish it could be more than just Tip-Up carry? I do prefer Tip-Down, but have gotten used to Tip-Up.Summary:Beautiful knife with a sleek and very maneuverable feel. Excellent for fine work as well as hard cutting. Has become my new favorite folding knife due to it's excellent feel and build quality. Only complaint is Tip-Up only carry, but not worth knocking off a star for something as trivial as that.

Review edited and deducted a star from the initial 5! Read on...
*** Edit as of 3/30/2016: unfortunately I have to revise my previous 5 stars rating to 4 since I returned my Manix 2 and here is the reason for return on my particular Manix 2 (all black edition): the deployment mechanism and the roller ball lock were just too stiff after a whole week of tinkering with deployment break-in period and ever so lightly lubrication (a dab of silicon based quick dry gun oil only) Alas I never got the buttery smooth deployment action and the more I looked at it, I just got buyer's remorse as I really didn't love the way the shape of its blade was crafted (bending downwards) as opposed to the PMII which tips upwards. I went with a Para II instead an I'm a lot happier. However, I will still consider a Manix 2 but perhaps the lighter FRN version instead ***Original review: What more can I say that hasn't been said before to praise this SpyderCo Manix 2?I specifically ordered from Amazons' own stock rather than an affiliated Amazon Prime third party seller for this primary reasons:I have had "bad luck" in the past with getting seemingly used (a prior customer returned item) or factory seconds, so I paid a bit more as an exchange process is a lot more seamless with Amazon as opposed to return and repurchase. As for the knife, I went through a few folders before I settled on this one. The Manix 2 resonated a perfect balance of aesthetics, size, ruggedness, sharpness, toughness (right out of the box) and price point (I was comparing with PM II with black blade for about $50 more). If you don't care for the black blade, you can go with the stainless steel in the same S30V for about $30 less.In closing, some may find the tip up only configuration (when closed) and the size (it is bigger and heavier in person than it seems) prohibitive either because of their personal preference and / or their local laws and ordinances. For me it is a perfect light trail trekking knife which does not draw attention and if called upon for action, WILL perform admirably to get me out of a jam possibly at its own peril. A lot of other knives look fancier but believe me, they will not perform half as tough in actuality when forced into action!
