Victoria Holt is one of my favorite authors and I want a copy of each book she has written in the VH genre. (She writes under other names, as well.)Her books are historically correct. There is usually a maiden in distress; an evil other person; and, of course, a hero. There is always some romance and although it is there, it is not graphic. The books are never tiresome. They take place in different places from the moors of England to Ceylon (before it was name Sri Lanka.) I read this book quite a while ago but it is Victoria Holt in her finest. If you like gothic novels, Victoria Holt is the lady to read. It amazes me how prolific she was.

Excellent servise. Brillent read

I almost always love Victoria Holts books but this one started to annoy me about a third of the way through. Clinton for one … so irritating. I don’t want to spoil it for others but that marriage did not ring true at all. Downhill from there. Unexpected ending and a happy one but tedious to arrive there. Not a favourite book sadly.

Anything by Victoria Holt is a pleasure to read. Once you start reading one of her books, it's hard to put it down.
