Keeps People Honest
I purchased this recorder to record telephone calls from bill collectors. My health insurance carrier takes a long time to pay my medical bills and sometimes requests further information from my doctor and this process can delay payment, sometimes for months. But the doctor's medical billing office will not wait months for payment and they quickly refer the bills to their collection service. Each time these bill collectors call they inform me that I am being recorded. Of course, I can hang-up but if I do, I can't explain to them what is the cause of the delay. So I decided that I should start recording them too. FIRST....I ALWAYS ASK FOR PERMISSION from the person I am recording. Remember "wire-tapping" laws vary from state to state. Some states are "one-party" consent states, where only one person has to consent to the recording of a call (obviously this would be the caller...the person who is operating the recorder). But most states are "two-party" consent states, this is where BOTH parties must agree to be recorded, hence the reason why bill collectors will always ask permission to record. So I always ask permission first and they always agree, since they want my permission so they can record as well. If they don't consent, then either do I and I just hang up. But they want to talk to me and I want to talk to them. I want them to be informed. I also want them know that they are possibly in violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) because they are maintaining false records regarding medical charges, which have not been paid yet, but are covered by my health insurance contract and are in the process of being paid. (Remember: it is very important to send this information in writing to the debt collector within 30 days of your first bill collection notice). Recording is the best but written notice is required to protect yourself legally. I find that when I record the bill collectors, everyone is reasonable and patient and respectful. Of course, no bill collector wants to appear to harass, which is another violation of the FDCPA or maintain false information. I save all my recordings on the Sony Recorder. Sometimes I transfer them to audio files on my computer, and save them there. If I ever have a problem with negative information being entered on my credit report, I can send the recording to the collection agency or to the respective credit bureau (Equifax, Trans Union, or Experian) or if I am sued (or if I want to sue the bill collector under the FDCPA), I have the recordings. I use this Sony Recorder with the Olympus Telephone Recording Device (TP-8) ear plug. I just plug it in and turn on the Sony Recorder. Crystal clear recordings, lots of memory, and best of all.....keeps everybody honest.

IT WORKS GREAT AND IT SOUNDS GREAT
I'm a songwriter. I bought this Sony Digital Voice Recorder to record the songs that I write and then transfer the songs to a folder on my computer. I previously used a digital recorder that recorded only in the WMA format and I wanted a recorder that could record in the MP3 format. The voice reproduction during the record phase is so crisp and clear and the recorder sounds wonderful during playback. The transfer of the songs from the recorder to a folder on my computer via a USB port is easy. I read through the instruction booklet to familiarize myself with all of the features of the recorder and with its operation. The recorder is easy to use. I'm truly happy with this Sony model. It turned out to be everything I hoped for and at a very reasonable price.

Perfect for research!
I purchased this Sony device to conduct research interviews. I did find it necessary to become acquainted with the directions and the Help Guide was available to download to my computer as a support. The quality of the sound and ease of recording was great. The most important factor in using is need to HOLD DOWN on button for a few seconds to be certain that device is on. I had some difficulty with this at first but soon mastered it. It was convenient to carry and had a small carrying case and was small enough and easy to forget it was there so it did not distract from the interview. The ease of transferring files to my computer for transcription is also an asset. Overall, this was a great price, good quality and arrived quickly with excellent customer service. Thank you.

A pocket recorder with simplicity, flexibility with reliability
The features I was looking for from a pocket recorder what is the ability to separate subject recordings from one another and the ability to add to a recording with simplicity. This recorder supplied four separate folders that four separate subjects to be recorded and allow ease of reaching them without trouble. Also, I was able to add and/or subtract sections from any one recording. I tried many others with failure. Everything that I tried was too complicated for someone that needs a recorder on the run. The Sony recorder supplied everything.

It works!
I purchased the PX333 several years ago for $60. They now want over $200 for the same model Ridiculous! This is just like the other model, but the on/off button, volume buttons, etc. are in different locations. Save a buck (or $200), and buy this model.

Not rechargable via USB
A very nice little recorder that records very well. The controls are easy to understand and equally easy to operate. It is such a shame that Sony did not make it rechargeable. Most of these small recorders have built in batteries that recharge when plugged in to a USB socket. This makes life so much easier as the thing recharges itself while you are downloading files to the computer. Other than having to carry separate batteries and also spare back ups this little recorder is great.

Great purchase
I needed a voice recorder but wasn’t sure which one to buy. So glad I went with this one. It is easy to use. Has several different folders so you can save different recordings. The batteries last for a long time. You simply put one side of the plug into the recorder and the other into the computer and everything pops up. Great for those who are technologically challenged like myself. Pleasantly pleased!
