The Amprobe SM-CAL1 is a sound meter calibrator for maintaining the accuracy of a sound level meter. It fits sound meters with microphones that have a diameter of up to 1/2 inch. It produces two fixed sound level signals, 94 decibels (dB) and 114 dB, and has an output frequency of 1,000 hertz (Hz). The calibrator operates on a 9V battery (included), and a low-battery indicator shows when the unit's batteries need to be changed. It meets European conformity (CE) directives and complies with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. The SM-CAL1 weighs 0.6 lb. The C weighting imitates the response of the human ear to loud noises and can be used in noisy environments. The Z weighting measures flat frequency response between 10Hz and 20kHz and is often used for reference measurements.
