Rothgar's story did not disappoint in any way!!
Like everyone else I have been waiting for Rothgar's story. He is one of the most charasmatic characters in romantic fiction! So strong, compelling, gorgeous and mysterious - throughout all the other Malloren books he was the one that did everything for his family - he made all things possible. And yet he was such a lonely sole and totally intended to never ever marry becuz he felt his mother was mad and he would never want to wed. He intended to remain alone forever! One just knew the minute he met Diana in Secrets of the Night that she was finally the one woman that would be able to reach through his armour and finally make him realize that he too needed someone to complete his life. And for love it was worth taking the risk that he was never able to even consider taking before. This is a wonderfully written love story, with just enough drama and danger as all the Malloren novels have. I will say again that it is so beneficial to read these books in order - especially to understand the depths of Rothgar's defenses against love and having a family of his own. I just do not see how one could be disappointed in Devilish!! I did not think I could enjoy a series as much as Stephanie Laurens Cynasters but the Malloren's are totally in the same first class category!!

Deep, passionate, complex...and perfect!
Like so many others of the romance reading and writing community, I had been Waiting for Rothgar for what seemed like *ages,* and when the book hit the stands I bought it with just a niggling hint of trepidation. Could it possibly live up to my expectations? I really didn't want to be disappointed, and have my raving passion for the noble, tragic and brilliant Rothgar tainted. Here's what happened: I devoured the book, probably during an all-nighter (this was ages ago), clasped my hands to my chest, heaved a gusty sigh, and said to myself..."That was just...wonderful!"And, of course, I've read it at least once a year, without fail, since then. He found a woman worthy of him, the plot was complex and fascinating, the pageantry simply splendid, and the man...well, what's sexier than a handsome, intelligent, reserved-but-deeply-caring Dark Marquess with a mysterious tragedy in his background?Of the two major authors who finally told the story of the powerful man looming in the background throughout their Georgian or Regency series, this one is by far my favorite.

At last a romance for Bey
Bey has been a strong presence through all of the novels about his younger siblings finding love, and it was nice to see him as the center of his own novel at last. Diana is delightful, and I’m glad I read the books in order so I caught the beginning of this romance in Brand’s story. CW: there’s an attempted rape that is explicit on the page.

Rothgar "Shattered" is a Wonder to Behold
I have been fascinated by the character of Rothgar ever since I read my first Malloren World novel. I have read and re-read Devilish. One of my favorite parts is definitely the duel that takes place at the beginning of this novel. Disciplined, caring, brilliant Rothgar finally reveals he is actually human when he falls for the lovely Diana. It takes some time for him to become "shattered" but eventually his world is turned upside down enough so that he begins to entertain thoughts of having a personal life for himself. I would have given this book 5 stars but was slightly disappointed in a couple of parts of the story related to how the Countess of Arradale's personality was portrayed. But, all in all, I love this book because I love Rothgar and his persona.

Captivating ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
So excited to finally read Rothgar’s book, and it was AMAZING! Packed full of twists and turns, suspense, desire and romance. The Malloren family is one of my favorites, and I highly recommend Jo Beverley’s work.

Satisfying georgian romance.
Beowulf Malloren is the oldest and most mysterious Malloren yet. Outwordly cold, he hides his feelings beneath a rapier sharp wit, and lives his life through the manipulation of others. I waited for this book patiently, praying that it wouldn't be a letdown, as some authors have a tendency to do with their last character in a series. I wasn't dissappointed.Bey was every inch the type of hero I love, and Diana the strong but not annoyingly headstrong heroine that I relate to the most.I love books set in the glittering Georgian period, and think more historical romance novelists should adopt this time as the settings for their books.Jo Beverley is sparklingly witty, and wonderfully intelligent, and her characters seem like living breathing people that you would want to know in real life.I thought this was a wonderful book and would reccommend it to anyone.

Another delightful Georgian romance
Wit, swords, power, & passion — they’re a potent mix. This was my second reading, with years in between, & it holds up well!

Slow to Please
I usually give a novel three chapters to grab my interest. I'm on chapter 5 and I'm putting it down. There is too much history that doesn't interest me. As an American, European history (especially trivial history) isn't something I crave to read about. I was impatient to get to the people in the book.I don't feel warmth for her characters and I like feeling compassion for the characters. I can tell that the author is a very educated person as her writing reflects that, but lacks the warm and fuzzy most of us romance readers love. Sometimes I had to stop and read a sentence two or three times to get the meaning as the writing is sometimes a bit vague. Like talking about two women in one part and the next sentence starts out with "she"... now which one is she talking about? In this book Diana is a arrogant woman who's main desire his having power and becoming a female "earl". Not very feminine or soft or warm. I don't like her right from the get go.This is my second novel by Ms. Beverly and I think the last and I will not even finish Devilish.Perhaps I've read too many books by authors who weave more likeable characters... I think I'll go back to them.

At last! Rothgar!!

Best one yet!
The Malloren family series has been most enjoyable. This one, the fifth in the series, is about Rothgar, the head of the family, and is the best one yet full of action, love and of course great romance.

Devilish
Really enjoyed this book as a joyous culmination of this series about this family. I think if you have read the previous books in this series you should certainly read and enjoy this book.
