Panasonic TX-49FX750B TV [Energy Class A++]

Had this tv for 2 days and it’s the best tv I’ve ever bought. The picture is incredible. Also I bought a Panasonic sound bar ( i’d never heard of a sound bar until last week ) and I would say to anyone buying this tv buy a sound bar, it’s a fantastic piece of kit and the difference is unbelievable. Fantastic.

Bought this after seeing it next to OLED TV's costing 2 or 3 times as much at Richer Sounds. I genuinely thought there was a mistake on the label and that it was an OLED TV. It isn’t, but it is a top of the range LED TV with superb picture quality and superior value for money that give the OLED's a run for their money. I am watching "Dynasties" on BBC iPlayer in UHD as I write and the picture is breathtaking. I am using the default out of the box settings and the picture is set to "normal". It is connected to a 4K Apple TV for movies and games and an external HDD for recording Freeview. Because this TV has 2 Freeview tuners and 2 Freesat tuners, it can record one channel while watching another. This is a very useful feature and one that is not available on its nearest rivals from LG and Samsung. Recording is easily accomplished from the EPG with a £40 1TB Toshiba HDD connected. Picture quality when watching 4K movies and HD TV on iPlayer from the Apple TV is also excellent. The sound from the TV is good, but through a Sonos Playbase, it is excellent. Freeview HD picture is excellent but 4K, sat from 7 feet away is amazing. The SMART aspects of the tv are easy to use and work seamlessly, the remote is simple and I can control the TV from the Panasonic app on my smartphone. The build quality, with glass backplate is superb and the cable tidy feature, integrated with the stand works really well. This is a top notch TV that I am really enjoying watching and I haven’t paid silly money for it either. You could easily be put off this TV after reading the Which? review, which criticises the sound and a yellowish picture but I have to say, the review is totally misleading, especially after seeing the picture myself. If you’re going to spend this much on a TV, you’re probably not going to use the internal speakers anyway! So far I have watched Incredibles 2 from iTunes, Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime and as I mentioned earlier, Dynasties on iPlayer UHD, am just so impressed. Paid £799 with price match. Really looking forward to watching this TV over the winter. Very highly recommended.

It would be tempting to buy one of the cheaper 4K UHD TVs but paying for this TV is worth it. The picture with the IPS panel and Panasonic's HCX processor is excellent with a very wide and subtle colour range upscaling of SD is very good. There are two Satellite tuners (Freesat) and one Freeview tuner. The TV is very well built and solid. Sound is average for a flat screen TV and I have added the Panasonic ALL70 Sound Bar and ALL2 Surround sound speakers; these provide true Dolby 5.1 when the source delivers it. Don't put up with a Dolby 2.1 sound bar or even no sound bar as a 4K TV deserves good sound as well. The operating system in the TV is very fast compared with some other 4K well-known brands - this is important. I can't really fault this TV other than the greens are slightly accentuated and I need to make a few more minor tweaks to get the balance right. I had to tweak the Gamma one notch and use a custom setting. The provision of picture modes such as cinema, stadium or whatever is really silly but all TVs seem to do it and it keeps the marketing guys happy. You can't go wrong with this TV.

Fine picture, great sound, looked sleek.Pity it totally failed after just 36 hours and was unfixable. Now watching an excellent TV, made by another company...
